GPU overheating with new update, while it was fine before

    i5 12400, 3060 12gb

Pre update, everything on low and 144 refresh cap = 80 hot spot max with normal temperatures chilling below 70. With new update same settings bring GPU to 87-95 hot spot. Capping gpu even further to 60 removes overheating. I use "fake" ultrawide windowed settings 2560x1080.

Is this badly optimized update? I have tried to install latest drivers but they did nothing to me.

Can it be because DLSS/FSR always on? I don't have issues with suddenly high temperatures in other games i can check. This is the only new feature of update i can think of anyway.

Is there a way to turn off DLSS/FSR entirely?

You'll have to upgrade your PC, it's just a graphics upgrade to reach the level of detail of a Ps4 Pro generation game in truth.

It's barely on a par with Ghost of Tsushima +/-.

A mini graphical upgrade of a Ps3 MMO

It's good to have RAM, which costs nothing these days, but at some point you have to upgrade your CPU too, it's not enough.

And probably get a non-original Cooler, from a brand known for their cooling systems, because the basic Cooler is just not good enough...

This makes 0 sense as recommended for dawntrail is 2060 and cpu should be on par or slightly better ......

Your specs exceed even the recommended requirements. While I've noticed that the game is a little heavier in GPU load, especially if you're playing beyond 1080p, I haven't noticed an increase in temps. I have noticed that the loading screen doesn't seem to be optimized and may be loading with an unlocked framerate, but once you're in character selection, everything's back to normal.

Might be worth checking out what your hardware is doing while in-game. CPUID HWMonitor can give you some good insight on hardware utilization and temps while you're in-game. Not saying your issue is necessarily hardware-related, but it's good to know what/where the issue may be specifically (when are the fans kicking in, how fast are they spinning, etc.).

It could be that DLSS is putting more weight on your GPU. FFXIV seems to be using a custom DLSS library file so you can't just grab a different release from NVIDIA and drop it in its place.

Are you running Afterburner or any kind of re-shaders? What temp is your GPU and CPU idling at?

Have this issue also, I have to restart the game after an hour due to GPU usage just wont go past 80%, resulting in lower FPS and the temperatures are up by 10C. Once I restart GPU usage will be normal, and go to 100% if need be as before the problem occured / DT. Very strange behaviour.

Have been overheating since dawntrail at almost 100c hotspot. I updated my GPU drivers and capped my fps to 60. Haven't seen temps above 70c all day since.

Without spoiling, once i got past 2-3 new zones i started to see normal temperatures ..... which brings me again to thoughts about horrible optimization.

I think lightning/dlss in some zones is a huge problem (people mention glare in other thread, ps5 overheating etc), even if it's 70% gpu load, sometimes temperature on hot spot just gets +10 degrees ...
