I’ve been in queue for almost 2 hours, what a terrible way to try and start this early access! This is a horrible user experience and it seems playing tonight is going to be a wash. Very disappointed.

First time?
Watching forum drama be like
Cancel the queue and DC travel to Dynamis or OCE? The queue times there are zero. It's literally NA primetime on a Friday night right now.
It was far worse in Endwalker and there is a hard limit to how many people can log into a single world. This is why they set up the DC travel the way they did.
Notwithstanding the "return to home world" issue that persisted for 4 hours this morning, the system is actually handling the influx of players very well. There is absolutely no successful MMO, whether WoW or otherwise, that will let you log in to an already highly populated World without a queue.
Played for many years, just not early access
Well you have the option to get into the game with zero queue. If you want to play with friends you can all travel to Dynamis, there's nothing stopping you.
There's not a whole lot that you lose access to when visiting another world. It's Day 1 and a Friday night.

Welcome to an expansion launch.
Your options are:Will last 2-4 weeks then it'll be normal again (but they tend to keep the 30 minute auto-logout for over 4 months).
- Login when everyone is sleeping in the NA region (there will be no queue then).
- Visit another, less congested data center such as Dynamis or Materia (or align your travel with when people on Materia sleep).
- Just start the queue before making breakfast so that it's done when you've done all your morning stuff such as shower, exercise, etc.

The launch of a new expansion / early access tends to get long queues. Especially if the MMO is one of the larger titles.
Not only do people who regularly play want to jump into the new content, but old ones as well.
And the queues can take days, maybe even a week or two before it settles down again.
This launch however has been quite tame imo.
Usually the forum tends to get flooded with angry people stuck in queues.
Sometimes even one or two individuals who sais they will sue since they can't play on the day that was announced, claiming it to be false advertisement or something.
Thanks for all the information everyone! I can finally play!
The longest queue I've had on Adamantoise was 500 people the instant of launch, and under 100 people in the ~6 or 7 times I've logged in today since then. Some people on my server have reported having to wait 10 minutes at times but 2 hours sounds crazy, I don't understand why there'd be such a discrepancy.
