I think before you can check "price history" the inflation is ok... even ppl sell lots cheap stuffs because they think, "it's easy for me to get it, I'm going to sell it at 300 gils"
evil will follow by the knowledge...

Removing price history certainly isn't a cure all for anything. It just a different type of inflation/deflation rollercoaster.
Without a price history if you only have a few of X item, people will buy it up, jack the price and no one will know it happened unless you've delt in X item often. If something is underpriced the only way people will know is that it sold super quick. Which means they will jack their price up untill it doesn't sell and sit on high prices untill they know they weren't sucked THIS time.
And if something is stupidly expencive while on the market, people who aren't sure will match it so they don't get boned. Or undercut by 1gil even more. Differing opinion on if the above are good or bad things. Personally i think their potentially worse then what we have with a price history.
I really doubt having no price history is helpful to the community, nevermind the new players coming in.
What a price history really does is help keep people from fleecing easy gold from the pockets of new players wholesale. And in some ways does help keep prices from spiking more wildly on the short term. Since people can make an educated determination if the price is worth the farming time.
If you support the removal of a price history for no other reason then to grab super cheap mats off "noobs" then you shouldn't be crying that you can't set your own price and maximize profits without someone deciding they can do it for less.
ANd with an API if SE doesn't put in a price history, someone will make an add on for it. and it will be tracked that way. Everyone wants to make some coin, no one wants to be the sucker who lost a ^%$^$ ton of gill cause they had no access to information besides holding onto items and checking prices for a month to see whats happening. And likely seeing spikes and dips in prices everywhere.

I remember doing that! Leveling up in XI was actually exciting because of the new gear you'd get every several levels ^^ Haha too bad that won't be the case in XIV apparently...since leveling is considered a chore and something to be sped through. =X
