For quite some time i played with 30fps but recently, at the end of one instanced fights my ps5 just turned off. Day earlier i got two overheat warnings. Honestly i've done before of this "clear cache", "rebuild database" and even disassembled ps5 to clean it through. Yesterday i deleted game and installed it again. So now i switched back to "default" settings, and played for few hours and nothing happened. But it's hard to concentrate on story and enjoy it when my mind thinks only when my console will shutdown. I'm still hoping for some fix, but it looks that graphical update shows that PS5 isn't enough anymore to run this game. Also i think all solutions that tech supports gives here is generally to fix ps5 problems if any game will cause problems so i don't think devs recognize this as the game problem.

    Made my bug report too.

It just makes no sense that I have been running FFXIV just fine for years, and my PS5 can run more demanding graphic games with no issue at all, but a 10+ year old game gets a mini facelift and the console can't handle it.

I knew this graphics update wouldn't go well, not every game need to look the best, a good games a good game, leave stuff alone, I can't play on ps5 anymore, and my pcs about to go, hope it can run it good for a couple weeks, til I get my new pc built.

Really disappointing to see no fix for this In the 7.1 patch. Hell I'd have settled for it even being acknowledged in the known issues section of the patch notes, at least then I could hope for a solution soon other than having to lock the framerate at 30fps. Unacceptable from the development team I know they read these forum posts. Something needs to be done to fix this ASAP.

I had this problem but not with ff14. Take ur ps5 apart . Check on YouTube there is a guide how to do it.
My bf and me had 2 ps5 which did shut down without warnings. We did take it apart and it did fix our issue.

I won't pretend to know the reason, but my PS5 hasn't had any of these issues. So this doesn't seem to be a universal issue, and thus will only be affecting certain users. The question is: why them? What's going on differently when comparing and contrasting the folks experiencing this issue and not experiencing it?

Since the problem is overheating, I'll offer some advice that may help. In my area of the country we're experiencing our yearly super heat wave, so for anyone in a similar area, that may be contributing to this issue. In the past I've had issues with consoles overheating, and that stopped when I learned to always keep my consoles on a flat, non-carpeted surface with plenty of open air on all 5 sides for ventilation to reduce heat build up; I also recommend finding some way to keep pets away so that they don't introduce additional dust or hair into the vents (if you can't do I presume that regular cleaning is almost as effective?). Anyway, in my case it made a huge difference, and since I started doing that I haven't had any problems with overheating on any of my consoles. Though depending on the temperature of the room you keep the console in, how much heat your TV generates if it's nearby, etc, all of those factors can play a part.

My sympathy to the folks who are experiencing this issue; I hope this helps in any way!
