Switch to 30 fps was the last thing i wanted to do. I even disassembled ps5 to clean it thoroughly, but this magical 30 fps trick working the best. In 4k i still hear the fan starting up, but with WQHD is going nearly silent. Thanks for help.
I‘m experiencing the same. Yesterday 3 crashes, all within 30–60 minutes. Turned off the console 120hz mode worked Fine until a few minutes ago, crashed again. Everytime a Hard Crash, meaning the ps5 won‘t start again until power cable has been plugged out and in again. I have the feeling that the hdmi area is overheating but Not sure, anyways this is really frustrating. Besides the fact that the Game can Not be played as expected it is Not healthy for the console. Hopefully this will be aknowledged by SE ans fixed anytime soon.
Then if you are forced to lock to 30fps for FFXIV in PS5, wait patch (that I don't think will fix nothing), or wait for PS5 PRO.

Somewhat off-topic, but the PS4 version also seems prone to overheating.
This graphics patch sure is a gift that keeps on giving.
I think they won't address this issue with patch.
After deep cleaning of my PS5 i can play 4K without fps limit (also still have disable water reflection i don't know if this changes anything). I hear the fan starting from time to time, and sometimes is quite loud to be honest. I've around 30 degress in my room and that's probably the main reason for it.
Did you enable or disable the ps5 120hz Mode in the System settings of the console?
My monitor doesn't have 120Hz option, so i don't have it enabled at all.
I thought initially that my ps5 was over heating. I took an air compressor to it and blew all the dust out of it. It is a first gen console. Long story short, I had to turn off the 120hz and switch it back to 1080p until they fix the graphics bug.
I literally had to unplug it from the back to reset the console almost every hour until about the 4th time I was like, ok yeah it's more than just a cooling issue. Don't know if this helps.

So I was able to chat with SE support and after a very short wait was told to try bunch of things. My ps5 is still crashing from over heating. Please more people file a bug reports it could help.
Anyway this is what I was told to do and it did not fix it.
Troubleshooting steps.
1. is to clear the cache on the console:
- Turn off the console by holding the power button for three seconds. The power indicator will blink before switching off.
- Once the system is off, press and hold the button down until you hear it beep twice.
- After the system turns on, connect the controller via USB and press the PS button.
- On the Safe Mode menu, select 'Clear Cache and Rebuild Database'.
- Please select 'Clear System Software Cache' to clear the system's cache.
If it crashes again, just try to follow the next steps below:

Port-Forwarding the PlayStation 5:
4)- Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
*This can be done by visiting www.portforward.com, locate your specific Router/Modem Brand and Model Number from the 'List of Routers', and you will find a step-by-step guide on how to access your ports.
5) If the issue is still not resolved, there may be an issue with the hardware or OS of your PlayStation 5. For further assistance, please contact PlayStation Support here: https://support.us.playstation.com
1-3 I did, 4 is not my issue and well 5 I will have to file report. No other game is making my ps5 hard crash. The suggestions are helpful but feel more like a default answer.
30fps seems be the only thing working. I can play for hours on 30fps but once that's off Hard crashing every 30 mins or so. Really don't want to play at 30fps and I wasn't before Dawntrail.
