While possessing impressive multi core performance, Threadripper of that era has middling at best single core performance compared even to CPUs of its own generation due to lower clock speeds. I's expect modern Ryzen to have nearly double the single core performance (unverified, only suspected, not checking benches right now MSQ to do) which, by the way is what XIV likes. It does NOT multi thread well. When one is CPU bound as you are no reduction in graphical settings will make any difference in performance whatsoever.
