DLSS of FSR do not do ANYTNYNG, not even +1 fps.

I tried all settings, its absurd.

PS: Yes I know it`s not a gaming CPU, but all other modern game on max is no problem for it, DLSS just do not work for me somehow.

I was testing my system to see how much the GPU load changes, and it "feels" like the game doesn't change when you switch from FSR to DLSS. Like it's only enabled if you switch to DLSS, restart the game, but then if you change any setting it's turned off.

Then again I have a 3090, so it might simply be that it doesn't hit below 60 fps for me in the first place to turn it on.

This game is weird.

I'm on my 4th PC since playing this game and none of them could get it to the desired performance without sacrificing something and something always breaks on each patch or break I take.

It's not like they're weak PCs either, all high end. My current build is a 7800X3D setup and I can barely get 110FPS with FSR on max(50).

You are CPU-bound. Practically everyone is, especially on the AMD side, as Intel CPUs perform better in this game (see GamersNexus benchmarks)

The DLSS implementation is forced to be dynamic res right now. It checks the GPU load and progressively lowers the resolution if it's too high.

If you use debug tools to check what DLSS is doing, you'll see that it's staying at DLAA (100% res), considering how overkill your video card is.

Therefore, lowering your resolution using FSR (or DLSS) would not net you any performance gains.

It`s all good and all, but why any other game of this year or last works on max, some even without DLSS?
For instance dead island 2, last year game, all maxed, 60+ fps stable (Monitor 60Hz). No DLSS. Played yesterday.

FFXIV is just a CPU-bound game (especially with tons of players on screen, as is likely to happen right now, during the expansion launch).

You can mitigate this by reducing the "character & object quantity on screen" setting, found under the [...] button under system settings.

DLSS or FSR or any technique like it will NOT DO ANYTHING if your game is CPU bound and not GPU bound.

Your old threadripper is holding ffxiv back a lot depending on your character limit and object limit settings. Turn down your settings that have to do with the CPU, profit

why did you buy a 4090 and 128gb of ram and not replace your 5+ year old CPU?

for reference I'm standing in the main city right now at 117fps with a 3060 and a ryzen 5 5600x 4.2-4.5ghz with 32gb of ram.
