for whatever reason, mounts in my game weren't tilting... until today.

now I'm with the rest of the people in this thread asking for a way to toggle it off. The tilt is so extreme even for minor directional adjustments and like others was starting to make me feel a little motion sick watching it. It's severely limited what mounts I can use, which was especially disappointing now that I can't stand flying on the new mount I just dropped 7.5 million gil on... giving an option to toggle this off would be fantastic.

Also for others dealing with this, I found the Pod602 mount is less offensive at this tilt than a lot of others out there.

I didn't personally find the tilt weird or annoying until I random'd Garuda's horse. The way the tilt looks on those is so unnatural I thought the horse was going to flop onto its side LOL. It would be nice to have a toggle for those moments.

That's the thing about motion sickness, is that you don't really notice it creep up.

Like in an actual car, reading or playing a video game in the backseat will do that to me. I won't notice it for about an hour and then suddenly the reaction is identical to a food allergy minus the throat closing up. In most "third party" camera POV's, usually it's not that bad because the camera and player character isn't "bobbing" (watch the top of the head of your character, it's usually very even while moving) If you switch to first person POV in this game, it's usually REALLY bad in some specific circumstances (eg the "flying orbs" when you're doing gathering, bob A LOT.) But when you pull out a horse in first person, suddenly it's even worse than this, because player character is pivoting from their seat position now. Other mounts like the car and the magitek armor also move in very terrible ways when flying. The armor always moved kind of funny on the ground in the first place, but they don't tilt on the ground. The horses do. The car's entire problem is that it pivots from the center, instead of the front wheels like an actual car. When the car flies though, yikes, it moves like it's on a gimbal from it's center. Even a JET does not move like this.

Despite that, I think the car induces the least amount of motion sickness while flying as long as you zoom all the way out before you lift off. Where as the horses and birds are now unusable and the tilting from the center makes it all worse.

If they want to leave the tilting in they need to move where turning axis is and make some logical sense. No land animal or vehicle is going to tilt unless doing a tight turn, and unfortunately the game interprets moving the camera quickly as "tightly turning" just as much as a small turn.

Personally, I love the tilt; for me it feels like it's breathed fresh life into the way my mounts move.

That said, if it's giving people motion sickness, then that's a serious problem. I 100% support the addition of a toggle for this feature so that those of us who enjoy it can use it, while anyone who would be harmed by it can deactivate it.

Tangentially: after hearing about the motion sickness issue, I tried and failed to understand what about the tilting was causing motion sickness in some people. I don't experience motion sickness from FF14 myself, so it makes sense that I probably wouldn't be able to figure out what's going on there by my lonesome. But I strive to better understand others, so if someone who experiences this motion sickness is feeling generous, I'd be grateful to hear what about the way this feature is implemented and behaves is resulting in such a powerful reaction. To be clear, your experience is not on trial here; I already believe you, I just am hoping to have a better understanding of what's going on here so I can understand people and the world better.

I desperately want a toggle. The feature is implemented on certain mounts such that moving just a little bit sends my character back and forth way too much. It's nauseating and is a poor effect.

Also adding in that the mount tilt makes me really motion sick and I would like to toggle it off. I sometimes have problems with hand/thumb jitteriness and with this tilt feature, it makes me like a weeble wobble toy. which is even worse for my motion sickness ):

Yes, I'm completely on board with a toggle. I'm highly susceptible to motion sickness — it's one of the reasons why I don't play many video games, actually. I got it from FFXIV when I first started playing too, but I love FF games and powered through anyway. It took me around three or four weeks to become accustomed to FFXIV, but even now, I have to get used to the game again if I take a break. All of this is just to say that this mount tilting aggravates this issue to an even higher degree for me. I don't believe that I'm just needlessly "complaining" either (much as the rest of you aren't). If that was true, I would've written something about this during any of my previous bouts of game-induced motion sickness. The tilting is a clear trigger for motion sickness and could be easily fixed with a toggle. We don't want to eliminate it, we just want the ability to turn it off for ourselves so that our motion sickness isn't triggered. Everybody wins.

With all the front page apologies and known issues that Square Enix rolled out last week, I would have hoped at least acknowledging that some of the visual updates and animations were making some customers ill or uncomfortable would be at the top of their priorities, even if they don't have an immediate fix ready. I'm rather disappointed that the health and safety of their players doesn't rank higher than lighting in housing.

    +1 for this
I've mostly gotten used to it now but it definitely gave me a few moments of vertigo at first
