Well to each their own but I think little differences are a good thing. Different body shapes should have variety in how gear fits. It's boring for everything to be exactly the same. I like that Hrothgal shoulder pads are enormous for instance, it makes them unique.

i'm not gonna lie i actually really love the immense pauldrons as well. i will admit though that sometimes it can look a little ridiculous depending on the gear you choose.

when i make a glamour i tend to build around one piece that i really like, and then build around it. and the most important thing to me in a glamour is the "silhouette", which is just the entire shape of the glamour. as long as everything flows nicely for me with the huge pauldrons i don't mind at all.

Fair fair, It does make them more unique. But I can say some are wayyy to big for it to look good.

While I'm not against large shoulders as I enjoy my big shoulders in WoW. The problem with them on hrothgar is they're often just completely floating off our body in a way that looks reaaaaally silly. If we're intended to have massive WoW shoulders, at least make them look like they're on our body. Also some of them are so big they basically take up most our upper body. The way FF14 does it looks less like a conscious design decision and more like a bug.

I get the idea of different styles and all, but it should still fit the anatomy of the body it is on. And, idk, maybe not decapitate my poor girl.

My screenshots from 2024 from the Virtu Ravager's Cuirass, clone of WAR artifact gear, so not exactly a niche glam. Thought about making new screenshots but nothing has changed since then. The bug report I wrote for this was moved to "Duplicate Bugs" immediately and it seems that's just a graveyard nobody bothers looking at ever again...

(More screenshots in the bug report thread, including comparisons with a Lalafell and a Viera: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ager-s-Cuirass )

Funny you should mention WoW because undead shoulders look horrible as a direct result of similar player complaints. Everyone is entitled to leave their feedback, just be careful what you wish for.

oh no i completely agree with that. a lot of the gear seems to float off of hrothgirls and it looks really strange.

Saw a female miqo'te wearing some Trueblood armor today, and decided to see how they'd look on female hrothgar. Very interesting difference. And by "interesting" I mean "that's absurd".

The scaling is absolutely for the males. And I don't see how no one on the dev side has seen these issues and thinks it is ok. How do you create a whole new race and then make it is so a huge portion of their gear doesn't fit properly? It is absolutely INSANE to me.

Because they never changed the actual gear pieces, for both Viera and Hrothgar it's just the male Midlander gloves with some kind of racial scaling applied.

From those screenshots it seems that they scaled the elbow bone way too high, and it's affecting all long gloves that are rigged to it.

Elezen have a similar issue but for shoulder plates.
