I'm surprised they weren't implemented already with the release of Dawntrail, but it would be nice if Devilment/Starfall Dance and Flourish/Fan Dance IV could optionally share an action slot (emphasis on the option to share or not share slots).

DNC already has a low button count, so I imagine that is the reason why they haven't added those options. Personally, I'd be all for it.
I dont get why they didnt do it, deliberately ensuring button bloat does not make for fun gameplay.
You dont want to know how difficult of a time i have had trying to find (And failed) a comfortable hotkey to put our newest ability on.... and that ability isnt even a new one. "Do an AOE that does 50% less damage for each enemy hit." Like we didnt already have freaking 3 of those!
Our other ability? Well thats just Technical step with extra steps, reliant on even more RNG AND Standard step has to be off cooldown. So i can use standard step and forgo the 5% extra DPS buff, or i can hold then pop Flourish outside of its appropriate rotation time essentially wasting it, Guess we can always hope Last dance will be active during burst. (Im yet too see that).
The one that hurts me is that Last Dance doesn't go on top of Standard Finish. My hotbars will be much nicer if I can put Last Dance over Standard Finish!
Complete agreement on Flourish and Starfall Dance, too.
Same for Fan Dance 1 and 2, they could both share a slot with Fan Dance 3. There is no reason to use 1 or 2 when 3 is available. It would also make double weaving the Fan Dances much more comfortable, just hit the same button twice. Personally i haven't found a way to reliably double wave fan dances, in particular if 3 is not available at the beginning and doesn't proc from using 1 or 2.
Similarily Standard Step and Last Dance. Though there might be a problem with Finishing Move.
Isn't it optimal to get all 4 stacks of fan dance 3 feathers for burst no?
Yes it is, but it is really hard if not impossible to actually use all these stacks during the burst, since you already have to weave in lots of oGCDs during the burst as is, and you can't use the damage oGCDs while dancing either. So being able to double weave the fan dances is extremely helpful to actually spend them during the burst phase.
My problem is the following: In your scenario, when I have a GCD where i don't have any other oGCDs to use, i use fan dance 3 followed by fan dance 1 or 2 (i'm only gonna say 3 and 1 for simplicity), but 3 doesn't proc.
In the next window, i want to double wave again. So use 1. But now, if 3 procs, i need to use 3, if it doesn't i need to use 1 again. I don't know if latency plays a part in it, but if i wait until to decide whether i think 3 procced or not, i don't have enough time to react to use another 1 without clipping my GCD. So what i'm currently doing is, i use 1 and a little bit later i press the skill for 3. If 3 actually procs, the input buffering will cause me to use it. But there is no way i can use another one.
Now, if 1 and 3 shared the same button, and a procced 3 replaces 1, i could simply hit that button twice. If the 1 procs a 3, then it ends up using the 3 as the second skill, if it doesn't proc, it will use another 1, and i'd be able to actually double weave no matter whether i get procs or not. And as i said, I can't see a scenario where you would want to use 1 instead of 3, if 3 is available, so i can't see a scenario where combining these buttons would be a detriment.
If anyone has a reliable way to double weave fan dances as they currently work, please tell me.
