    Kinda disaggree here.
Belittleing the dissatisfaction as MCS is really not in good faith.
We were not the central focus in big parts of HW and even less in Stb and yes while there was criticism for that those expansions handled it way better.
The problem is not Wuk Lamat being the central figure but that she eclipses everything. It would have already helped if not every single quest was "talk to Wuk Lamat" or gave us some time without her like the other expansions.
She actually almost never interacts with the other party members, only with us and given we are a silent protagonist that's not good.

The story would have worked if it was a standalone title or a short story in itself but not in an mmorpg.
Our character was only there so seh had a camera for the audience.

In one interview Yoshida said that the world moves as the WoL moves (I don't remember were though tbh). It would be fine to do something like DT but not in FF14 were the big part of the story is that our character is special. You just don't change that in a completly other direction.
At this point the only thing missing is Wuk Lamat somehow also getting the echo and being the 15th seat of the ancients or something like that.

That also has nothing to do with being younger or older.
I'm quit old myself but like stories like Golden Sun or Stephen Kings "Fairytale", the "Anders" books, you know simple stories.
I also like complex or deep stories like "The Helmsman". Heck I wrote my high school diploma on Goethes "Faust".

It's fine to like the story but implying those who didn't like it are stupid or too young is just evil.

And that is fine. It's great you like her and the story. Don't be discouraged to state that opinion.

I don't want to sound like a negative dandy here.

I think this is a misread of the situation. While no doubt many people enjoy being the focus (in an MMORPG game no less), there is also the reality that by this point our character has been written in a way that sidelining them rarely makes sense.

The reality is we are unique in this world, by connections, power, knowledge, and experience. Anything that has the Warrior of Light take the backseat needs to have a pretty well thought out reason as to why. Not just because "it feels bad" to not be the center of attention, but because it's hard to understand why we would sit back and let people die or chaos reign.

Krile was given a great excuse as to why she might have been uniquely positioned to help advance this story, but instead we give all the focus to Wuk, who we have zero reason to put our faith in and who by all accounts should not be given the leeway to risk the safety of an entire continent, let alone the star by the time Alexandria becomes involved.

    TL;DR it's just bad writing.

Would be kinda ironic since DT isn't really the "low stakes" story that was advertised, especially in its second part since it's pretty much the old scions Wuk Lumat vs evil worldending thread plot.

I'm doing the melee role quests before starting the level 99 MSQ and it's a breath of fresh air to unravel the story by myself with no Wuk Lamat in sight pushing her opinions and expecting praise. Doing this quest line veeeeeery slowly just to extend the time away from her. I've never felt like I needed to actively avoid the MSQ to enjoy the game until now. Not even in ARR.

I find myself thinking of moving on in the quest, and then doing inventory management or real-life household chores to stall.
I'm now in the last zone, and in any previous expansion I would binge the main quest by now, regardless of if there were some tedious filler lulls in between before. Why is she still here, why is everything still about her; I knew by now that this would be the case, and it still bothers me and I was still angry to leave several scions (longtime companions with sound magic-scientific knowledge we could use) behind at the door and taking Wuk Lamat along instead to be clueless about everything and continue to take the spotlight. When they said her going was a given, no it was not. There is zero reason she should be here.
I just don't care anymore, the zone's pretty and all, but I just want to end this misery.

I had my disagreements with some plot beats of the previous expansions, but I was always engaged, I always loved the game. Wasn't a fan of the Endwalker patch main quest, but loved Pandaemonium, so I was overall optimistic going into this. I don't understand what this is.

Diluting fair and valid criticisms over the MSQ to simply being unsatisfied about not being the main character in an RPG where the world revolves around the player character and their actions and impact on the world is very disingenuous. In Dawntrail, the world revolves around Wookie and we are simply watching her engage with it while holding her hand every step of the way, which is boring and to those such as myself who find her insufferable, aggravating. Especially when all the steps we do take to engage in the world for most of the MSQ is the same "talk to 5 people", "find 3 objects randomly placed in this huge radius", "pray return to Wukkie", in no less than at least 4 zones. That is the issue.

    [some spoilers]
Chubaca... I mean Wookie, I mean Wuk Lamat could easily be a side quest content, throughout MSQ we are made to suffer and yes, it was akin to suffering, acceptable at best up to terrible voice acting at least in English version of the game, I do hope other languages were spared this part. Her development is from love all to love all with understanding their culture, which she disregards in the conclusion of the story, not approving of style of life in Solution 9, without so much as attempting to understand it. And it seems like every single person is absolutely adoring her for no apparent reason, she was okay as initial character but after spending whole MSQ watching her, she is basically a Naruto just simplified even more than aforementioned character. Whole story seem to follow what is needed for her arc disregarding other characters at times. Not to mention that the whole 3650 times faster time flow within the dome severs only two purposes, causing a lot more issues with consistency and narrative, one is for Wuk Lamat mommy to die of old age... frankly it could have been handled in any different way. The other one is Erenville mom who has to have time to die and become endless. Also could have been handled some other way. It seems that with this rate of time flow Zoraal Ja after the initial attack on Tuliuollal waited for 15-30 years before train breached the dome.

Not to mention some other weird choices like cowboys dueling with rubber bullets, and sure perhaps they did not want to kill each other but saying that duel is with rubber bullets up front made me feel like I am watching adult kids playing cowboys. Could have been solved in a different manner as well, with dual feeling legit - and afterword's, kid admitting that he used rubber bullet so that Vulture could face justice. It'd have so much greater feeling.

Only good thing from this MSQ is that ARR seems way way better in retrospect.

Just finished msq and gotta say, I did not enjoy playing second fiddle to a character I didn't like that much. You could've cut my character out and put a random merc there and it would've been exactly the same. Really disappointing. I've never seen a character force themselves to be in every scene so much.

After playing the game for 11+ years this is my least favorite story of almost any RPG I've ever played. Not only that, but in most games for me this is usually grounds for not buying the next game, because that's just how annoying it was.
