Getting the clown outfit for all saints week a few years back now makes sense.

The original is from the main r/ffxiv subreddit by the way. The subreddit that usually downvotes any criticism no matter how valid and polite. Top post on front page with nearly 3k upvotes now. Most of the comments rightfully criticizing the expansion and story.

I just finished the game... The fact is we did not need to tag along with Wuk.

We could have been holidaying having fun all the way to effectively the middle of the story and then we could have been called in by the Dawnservant to sort out the mess that his trueborn son caused. This would possible save the first half of the expansion...

The competition could have gone in the background and we could be even spectators to their efforts- heck judges even, but we literally beat the personification of despair.

Playing politics is not something we need or should do.

There is no reason for WoL not to involve themselves either, it could have been a good story - but something went wrong, to me it was too much Wuk Lamat, feeling like I had a psychofan who pops up from every corner and box trying to get my attention. I felt suffocated by her and every brief moment of respite, soon enough turned into *someone is knocking at the door* and me having high hopes it's someone interesting to talk to and fear that it may be Wuk. I will allow readers to guess who was behind the door.

The weird thing is, it almost feels like there's a concerted effort to kill the word "tribe". Magic the Gathering changed it to "Kindred" for all the old Tribal cards just about a month or two ago too.
And just like here nobody, barring those who have to bend the knee for money, actually even follows along with the garbage change and keeps to the old name.

I think people are focusing on the wrong reasoning here. The key as I see it, is that a lot of things they brought under the umbrella of this game element simply.. were seriously not tribes. This goes back as far as Stormblood -- we had a guard regiment in the Fringe with quest npcs from three different peoples. In Shadowbringers, the Greatwood has us help an archaeological expedition, while in Il Mheg the whole thing is about a single indivual and a porxie, you're not questing for 'the pixies' as some tribal collective there at all. In Endwalker, Thavnair gives us a motor club inventing uber eats, and in Ultima Thule, we're helping a Loporrit and an Omicron start a cafe business.

The only thing that is still in common with this form of content is that your progress in them is measured on a reputation progress bar, so I actually think they should have called them 'Reputation Quests' already and be done with it.

You saying this reminds me of the Adoring Fan of Oblivion - and I enjoy that character and put his space equivalent on my crew in Starfield because he's an intentional joke, not whatever this is. I'm now sad. (Actually the box image made me laugh, thanks for that in these dreary times lol.)

There's definitely way too much variance in scope for a single descriptor. Just in Endwalker we had one elephant biker gang that wanted to turn over a new leaf and start a business, but also the remnants and recreations of 7(?) civilizations, at least one of which spanned countless planets.
