If people are having eye strain, they need to adjust their gamma settings as well as bright and contrast settings on their monitor/tv. There is also other graphical settings in game that can help, but that's all there can be done.

As for the graphic update, they aren't going to go back now nor add an option. You guys make it sound like its an easy fix which its not, it shows how ignorant people are to how game development works. You're literally asking them to create a separate engine/update just for you vs the majority. They didn't just pretty up the textures and some models, they literally updated FFXIV's entire engine and graphical rendering systems. What you're asking, is just not feasible in the slightest.

As for me, I'm loving the new graphical update and having no eye strain. It is easy to see there is places, npcs, etc they haven't gotten to but what they have gotten to looks amazing and I'm looking forward to more updates as the later patches happen. It took a little bit of adjusting of my character to get him looking a bit right but that's fine, that's what the fantasia is there for. Which you can pick up in Ul'Dah in the Sapphire Avenue exchange, for those who missed the release notes. I know some people hate change but sometimes you got to roll with it. FFXIV needed this face lift as some assets hadn't been update since 1.0 and they even had to downgrade the engine/rendering system to make ARR in the first place, which made those older assets look even worse than it did in 1.0.
