I haven't had any issues with eye strain, but my eyes have definitely needed to recalibrate. I could see how eye strain could be a thing. Dynamic resolution is a bit buggy though at the moment, at least on the PS5. Things get a bit blurry, or big squares line the screen every so often. I would notice the squares during EW when first loading into the game sometimes, but now it seems to happen with no rhyme or reason.

Nope, I actually can't even change antialisaing anymore, it's greyed out, lol.

I guess you also tried to change the settings in the PS4 itself?

Do you use a monitor or TV? Could you swap it? (like if you use Monitor, try it on TV)
What if you use a smaller resolution?

And maybe a more crazy idea:
Since it's probably the TAA which makes stuff blurry if there is movement, you could try to make your display more blurry. Idea would be that the difference between sharp to blurry get's reduced.
You could try it with a cheap screen protector or something. Seems some make it look more blurry.
Would cost something to try, but maybe helps?

Throwing my hat in the ring to agree that the new update is causing me a lot of eye strain and migraines.

The forced upscaling is a huge problem. FSR sharpens the image way too much at 99% (it's still on blurring things at 100%) and the DLSS implementation is very poor. It seems to always have resolution scaling on regardless of the framerate option. So you don't get the benefit of DLAA alone.

What worked for me was going into my FFXIV.cfg config file and changing GraphicsRezoUpscaleType to 2 then setting the file to read only. Then I turned the AA off in-game. That said, a lot of the new textures are pretty soft-looking so you might still want some form of sharpening e.g through your gpu's drivers settings.

As of now, things look about the same as they did before but with better textures. Which all I wanted in the first place. For console players, best of luck here and I'm hoping you get some additional options.

FSR isn't the only upscaling that looks blurry. This unfortunately doesn't matter if using DLSS as opossed to AMD's FSR. DLSS doesn't let you change the AA options sadly, and FSR looks too sharp/aliased for a lot of people in general. As someone else mentioned, this is a very poor implementation of DLSS. "One size fits all" DLSS was not the way to go and seems very lazy to me.

The main issue I'd like to see corrected myself is currently not being able to disable bloom/glare. As it stands now, the Glare settings do absolutely nothing when toggling them off/on. Since this game has some of the most eyebleed bloom visuals I've ever seen in modern gaming, it's been a struggle to want to actually play since the 7.0 patch came out.

Like I mentioned earlier in this post though, another post about the glare/bloom was moved into the Accepted Bugs forum. So hopefully they're actively working on a fix to push out soon.

Try switching graphics upscaling to AMD FSR first if you have that option. It should un-grey that. I believe DLSS uses TSCMAA by default in this.

    1) Switching to Nividia DLSS
    2) Tweaking monitor shapness, contrast & brightness.

Spend 1 day doing this, now at least the game is playable for me.

That one gives me horrible stuttering/vibrating when I move which is even worse than the blur. I've spent hours messing with the settings at this point, nothing works. :c
I can only hope that it will be fixed in a couple of weeks. An option to disable both would be appreciated.

Alright, we have our first official response from the Square Enix Support Center:

    Dear -------,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We are sorry to hear that you have experienced this situation and we thank you for providing us with this feedback.

We have passed on the information to the relevant team. While you will not receive a direct response, please know your feedback will be read and taken into consideration. Please keep an eye on any updates or announcements that may be related to this topic.

Not sure how much of this response is stock, but the fact that they've (seemingly) acknowledged the issue's existence is at least something. If there's still someone out there who hasn't yet made a support ticket about their eye strain problems, please do so now. Every single one matters in getting the devs to fix this issue.

If possible, be sure to also provide them with a link to this forum post, so as to show them that it's no isolated incident.
