I think its an individual kind of issue, which is why they need to add options (whatever they may be) to help those that are having "eye strain".

Some people need glasses, others don't. Some people are allergic to peanuts, others aren't. It's very much an individual issue, as you said.

But yeah, people going from "I could play this game for 12+ hours a day without any problems" to "15 minutes of this game makes my head hurt and my eyes want to die" is definitely a sign that the new graphics need more work.
