Dawntrail Graphics Update - Eye Strain

So I'd thought I'd managed to get things bearable, but some instances (including the last trial) were horrible. I even had my husband sit in my chair and play my character for me to complete the lvl 100 dungeon and trial because the effects were so bad for me it was not safe to play (not only the dry eye issue, but I have photosensitive epilepsy). It's hardly a feelgood situation; goodbye any chance of roulettes.

I've managed to level the crafting and gathering classes, and started trying to level battle classes, but I've given up. I generally love doing FATEs and bounties, but I can't even do them comfortably for 30 minutes. You know the drill: headaches, dry eyes, which ended up with a nasty migraine that had me fogged for several days last week, etc.

Now just logging in for my retainers and house plants.

Sadly this update changed nothing visually, still cannot play the game. Its really disheartening to see so many people have an issue playing the game with no fix in sight.
Im curious, has anyone tried to make comments about this on twitter? Social media tends to be a good way to get attention to game issues it seems.

I won't post pictures because of spoilers but the new raids are unbearable. Bright and shiny environments, arenas, boss skill effects. I ended up turning off my own skill effects because I can't see anything anymore.

XIV has always been flashy but I never had this issue when I could turn off bloom/glare. I will never understand why SE decided to remove it. It's an important accessibility option, we need it back ASAP!

I'll keep an eye on the thread but am unsubbing in the meantime and recommend others take a break and do the same. Don't try to play a game that physically pains you to play.

They spent a few patches tweaking effects in Tower at Paradigm's Breach because they were causing similar issues(or worse), but I'll never in a million years understand why they removed the option to turn off an effect as disliked as bloom.

Even with the tweaks to Tower at Paradigm's Breach, it still caused me a seizure unfortunately. I have been extremely afraid of that raid ever since.

I "only" struggle with the visual effects in dungeons and trials (level 100 trial + dungeon and level 97 dungeon especially) so I'm very sorry to everyone who can't play or only barely play at all because of other various issues caused by the graphics. The very flashy graphics as well as general eye strain cause terrible migraines and headaches for me and for the level 100 trial I could barely look at the screen for a lot of it and fortunately some kind friends ran it with me so I didn't have to feel as bad for dying all the time due to not being able to see what's happening.

Why there aren't any settings to reduce eye strain is ridiculous and the lack of accessibility is really.. something lol. There are some other instances here and there in previous expansions which I also find hard to handle and can trigger migraines for me too, but it's the absolute worst in DT so far. And it feels pretty crushing to be in the final fight of an expansion and feeling excluded by not getting to actually enjoy it one bit due to health reasons.

Also to add I never dared to actually run Tower at Paradigm's Breach because just checking a video on it told me I shouldn't do that.

Really hope there will be some fixes and I'm really sorry for everyone struggling worse than I do. Take care of your health everyone <3

(Also I saw a warning that the 4th Arcadion raid in particular has lots of flashy effects in general apparently and causing issues too?)

The final Trial of the Dawntrail quest of the DT Msq is unplayable by me do to photosensitivity. The fast moving swishy floor and the particles in between quick transitions made it so I couldn't even look at the screen.

I have seizure issues with other areas of the game too, but this was beyond anything.

Hello, I also have this problem on PS5. What's strange is that I've been playing for a while but hadn't really noticed it. But I changed my screen yesterday and I immediately saw this blur effect. It's very noticeable when I move and look at the trees. The tree becomes blurred and darkens when I move, when I stop it becomes normal and sharp again. It bothers me a lot and I can't play anymore. I'm sad to leave 10 years of gaming behind me. I hope the problem will be solved soon, otherwise I'll be saying goodbye to FFXIV.
