Sub-100 turns on sharpening, actually. 100 is noticeably blurrier, at least for most users (though less blurry than DLSS). Even with sharpening turned on, though, it still doesn't eliminate blurring when the camera or objects are in motion, and no, turning off radial/motion blur doesn't affect that either.

https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...19d46241037cb6Welp, I'll be damned. I almost missed this little bit from Yoshi-P's latest post:
It has been a joy to watch you all play, each in your own unique way, but we’ve become aware of several issues that may have proven a hinderance to your overall experience. For that, I sincerely apologize. We’ve already announced on the Lodestone that a number of these issues are presently under investigation, but rest assured we will be doing everything in our power to address them as quickly as possible. You can expect a follow-up announcement as soon as fixes are ready for implementation.
I'm probably just becoming delusional, but is this what I think it might be? It's impossible to tell due to his almost politician-level vague manner of speech, but with any luck this is proof that the devs might actually be working on a solution. Here's hoping.
If you haven't sent a support ticket about this eye strain issue yet, please do so at your earliest convenience. The more people we get to voice their problems, the more manpower they'll (hopefully) assign to deal with the issue.
Although initially addressing housing interior brightness, it goes on to explain some of the problems about lighting in general. It might, er, shed some light on some issues we've been experiencing in this thread, and the proposed fix may help some of us here. In short, there is indeed a cause for some hope here.

Screenshots suck at conveying the frequency of the problem and getting the right timing, but here's one I took shortly before trying the video route, completely unedited:I dont know if its just been destroyed by youtube's compression but i just cant see the blurring you are talking about. I can see some breakup of edges but i'm pretty sure that's just the compression artifacts. do you think you can share an screenshot of the game in motion? I'm asking because unless we can communicate what the actual problem is there isn't much the devs can do to fix it.
Cropped to my character, who is rendered blurry:
For comparison, a similar crop to nearby furniture:
If that's not enough, I can take screenshots off the original high-quality version of the video (it's over 1.7 GB for that length) or fire OBS back up in full lossless mode and take screenshots off the resulting video.
Bump for visibility because I have none in game
it/its - 14 accessibility is bad, ease of access is not accessibility, jobs are boring. Transphobia ruins real attempts at criticism and it's whack.

This fixes nothing. I tried FSR 100 with no AA, with FXAA, FSR 99 with FXAA and no AA. No matter which setting I get a massive headache and some places hurt to look at (e.g. final area) due to the blur when moving, aside from that flashbang glare. Not everyone can deal with the blur, no blur, blur, no blur changes just because you're walking a few yalms. And don't get me started on that wonly heat effect in the first city. If it fixes it for you, that's great, really. But it's not a universal fix for everyone sadly. I had to stop playing yesterday because of the last area causing actual pain in my eyes. I later forced myself to get through the rest of the MSQ and had to skip myself through it because even the cutscenes were too much for me to look at in this area. However forcing myself through it was a pretty bad idea, I have horrible headache today and my right eye hurts like crazy. I've never had any of these issues before the update nor did I ever run into any issues with any other game so it's pretty safe to say that it is caused by the update. And I have tried a lot of different settings already, even adding sharpness and stuff via the nvidia overlay but it doesn't help. As of now FFXIV is not playable for some of us who were able to play it just fine before the update.
Like I mentioned in a post earlier, before the update I could easily play 8h+ without problems, now I can play max 1-2h, if even depending on the area.
Boop!
This sounds like one of those "It's not an issue for me, so why is it an issue for others" kind of reply.I feel like people have missed that the solution to one of these problems was already posted in here a while ago. if you want the image quality to be the same as it was before set the upscaler to FSR, set the resolution scale to 100, and set the edge smoothing to either FXAA or none. the issue here isn't FSR, its the new TSCMAA edge smoothing.
This will produce results identical to before the graphics update.
The devs definitely could have explained these new options better but you should at least try experimenting with the edge smoothing options before posting about how the game is unplayable
(still wish glare wasnt forced on)
Go back and read the previous 21 pages and you'll see different people are having different issues for different reasons. Not everyone has the same hardware, nor does everyone have the same neurology, and that's okay. What isn't okay is dismissing the issues others are having because you yourself aren't perceiving the same thing.
For the record, FSR at 100 is still blurry for some people and FSR at 99 looks too sharp for some. The issue is different settings being added/forced on, and other settings being entirely removed.

It outright baffles me how the man can spend an entire post talking about people's complaints about housing lighting, yet refuses to so much as mention the issue that is literally making it impossible for people to play the game. I know it's an easier thing to fix and will please more people with way less effort, but... come on.Although initially addressing housing interior brightness, it goes on to explain some of the problems about lighting in general. It might, er, shed some light on some issues we've been experiencing in this thread, and the proposed fix may help some of us here. In short, there is indeed a cause for some hope here.

Exactly! I actually like a slight constant blur, like you get with DLSS when you stand still. But that's different from motion blur, and because they've made motion blur mandatory everything gets super blurry only when you move and that gives me nausea. FXAA is less blurry overall with the right settings but it still has the motion blur, and with those settings it looks too sharp and has too much blurring at the same time.
All I want is a motion blur toggle. And it would be nice if my own abilities didn't blind me, some of them are a bit too bright now post-update.
