This does not work for console players.

I did acknowledge that:

it's not a perfect solution because it's not available for people playing on consoles

plus console players should be able to adjust settings like these as well, not just those who can accsess ReShade

But it's still an option that at least part of the community can try using (and I do think that devteam should make it a native setting, which I said as well).

I think PS5 (if that's what you have, i didn't pick up that you're playing on a console right away because you mentioned laptop, sorry for that) also has contast settings of its own, but it's probably no different from just changing TV's settings straight, and I'm not even sure if it works in the game or if it's just for the menu, because last time I played on a console was during Shadowbringers.

Devs definitely messed up on this and should address it. There're so many fights lately that are hard to navigare through because of how bright they are, too.

Ah, sorry! Admittedly, I saw it was a suggestion for reshade, and I immediately stopped reading cause I'm frankly tired of people bringing it up to me since it is a non-solution for a good chunk of us.

It has been suggested in this thread plenty and even if I did play on PC, I would not want to use it. I don't want to have to install mods of any kind, and no one should have to to play XIV.

I play on PS4, and had been thinking about getting a PS5, my partner often offers to get me one, but the thing is, I got my PS3 and PS4 for XIV within months of starting. I enjoyed the game that much in ARR.

But in it's current state it is not worth the investment of another console.

We payed the price of DT, and are having to pay a monthly sub, and we've just been ignored.

And that said. The PS3 ran the game without making people sick, and it's incredibly sad that with "better" tech they're delivering a worse product.

That's fair.

The game's color palette definitely shifted a lot over time, as they've started making more and more bright areas and fights with Shadowbringers and later on. I can kind of understand that they probably wanted to add variety into an otherwise a bit of a "dim" looking game, but somewhere along the way they seemed to push it a bit too far.

I haven't any headaches so far myself, thankfully, but some fights are just tiring even without that because the color combinations aren't working particularly well.

Hopefully they'll expand in-game lightning settings, they're really needed at this point.

And yeah there's probably no point in upgrading your PS4 to PS5 unless they annnounce the end of PS4 support, and even then it would depend on wherever you want to keep playing or not.

I play on an OLED TV (LG C4), with bias lighting in the room.
Playing as Paladin and some action like "Confiteor" is too flashy. In addition of certains boss move that are very flashy and take 3/4 of the screen in very short time.
I was wondering what causing my eye strain and migraine. I started to have when I replayed FFXIV for Dawntrail and when I doing some 7.0 to 7.31 contents. (Sand Oria raid for example)

I dunno if I have to stop my subscription until they fixe this things, my head hurts when I play this game, and this is annoying because I play on console (xbox) and I can't change anything in video settings...

It's been well over a year and I think the only change they've made was to Zelenia. They simply don't care and they won't do anything.

I think it was just a minor reduction in brightness and a minor tweak to the colors of some effects. It was hard for almost everyone to see some mechanic tells because the effects were cranked too high.
