    Dark Knight Rework: Dark Shield Mechanic

    Hello Warriors of Light,
    I would like to thank Square Enix team for their work and passion for the game and I would like to give my ideas regarding reworking Tanks and tanks identity.

    As previously I have shared my idea that tanks high DPS skills should be reactive skills with tank buster here is the summary of it:

    Tank buster is a great mechanic that tanks can use it in their benefit..

    my idea is to split tank buster into 2 types:
    • Physical tank buster: if tank use the right tank buster mitigation it will reward tank with extra damage.
    • Magical tank buster: if tank use the right tank buster mitigation it will reward team with extra mitigation.

    While waiting for Dawntrail here is my idea of how to rework Dark knight:
    Dark Knight overview:
    Dark knight is a knight that uses great sword for heavy hitting attack while darkness trades its hp with darkness shield that can be converted to damage and darkness blessing will heal him if done correctly.

    Passive:

    Each time dark knight got hit by enemy it will give 30% of damage received as darkness shield (which is unique shield that will not be go beyond max hp and damage received will prioritize darkness shield), any shield received from healer will be converted to darkness shield.
    Basically, no shields are allowed to dark knight other than darkness shields.





    1 2 3 single target & 1 2 AOE combos will give 320 (70%) potency darkness shield and 80 (30%) potency heal of the damage delt (if hp is 100% it will sacrifice dark knight hp portion of hp to darkness shield) and gain mana.

    skills:

    Edge of Shadow (OGCD) (10 second recast):
    Deals single target unaspected damage X potency
    Cost: 3000 mana and 10% of the HP.
    Gain: 10% darkness shield.


    The Blackest Night (ability) cost 3000 mana:
    If cast on self, it will convert 30% of hp to 30% darkness shield and 20% defense increase and grant affect The Blackest Night Unleashed.
    If cast to target party member it will cost 30% of self hp and give party member normal shield it will be 30% of their HP.

    The Blackest Night Unleashed (ability):
    can only be caster after using the blackest night
    heal the amount of The Blackest Night

    Shadowbringer (GCD) (45 second recast):
    Deals unaspected damage to all enemies in a straight line X potency
    next Edge of Shadow will consume 0 mana
    Cost: 5000 mana and 25% of the HP.
    Gain: 25% darkness shield.

    Carve and Spit (OGCD) (60 second recast):
    Delivers a threefold attack with a potency of X.
    Additional Effect: Restores MP
    Shares a recast timer with Abyssal Drain.

    Eventide (GCD) (30 second recast) (Dark knight PVP Ultimate):
    Deals Heavy attack with unaspected damage X potency based on missing health
    Cost: all darkness shield
    Gain: apply buff “Oblation” that reduces damage taken by 25% and allow you to cast “Frey’s blessing”.

    Frey’s blessing (Ability) (60 second recast):
    Frey heals dark knight equal to 20% max health and apply Living Shadow while attacking Frey heals dark knight.

    Delirium (Buff) (60 second recast):
    3 stacks of Delirium to cast Blood spiller or Quitus.
    Restore mana after each bloodspsiller or quitus.

    Bloodspiller (GCD) (2.5 second recast:
    Delivers an attack with a potency of X and converts 5% of hp to darkness shield.


    Disesteem:
    Deals Heavy attack with unaspected damage X2 potency based on missing health can be cast if physical tank buster mitigation done correctly.

    AOE skills:
    Abyssal Drain (OGCD) (20 second recast):
    Deals unaspected damage with a potency of 240 to target and all enemies nearby it.
    Additional Effect: Restores own HP
    Cure Potency: 200
    Shares a recast timer with Carve and Spit.

    Shadowed Vigil (buff) (only if there is 3 enemies or more) (60 second):
    Reduces damage taken by 40%.
    Duration: 20s

    Tank buster mitigation:

    Living Dead (physical mitigation):
    Convert HP to 1% and darkness shield to 99% preventing dark knight from dying and prevent dark knight to be healed.
    If done successfully it will empower the next Eventide with follow-up attack Disesteem.
    Else: it gives debuff damage taken increase by 10% and full damage received


    Dark Missionary (Magical mitigation):
    If done correctly it will give all party increase shield by 15% of their HP until they take next hit, Requiescat will be improved with sword oath increase damage to 20%.
    Else: it will disable the buff and it will give debuff to tank damage taken increase by 10%.
