Stutters in citites

I'm seeing weird spikes occur in cities and in some cutscenes. For about a second, every other second, nothing on screen will update while audio continues to play. I'd guess it has to do with the amount of PCs on screen, but I really don't know. I'm curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this.

Only evidence I can offer here is a GPU usage graph:



I've tried disabling/killing programs to no avail. No changes to ingame graphics settings make a difference.

Actually, switching to (and from?) fullscreen from borderless seems to have an effect?

I have the same issue didn't try to go outside a city but yeah it stutters for me too. I tried many thing going from reinstalling the game to putting everything on low nothing works.
I didn't have any issue with the benchmark or with havier games (maybe is it a driver issue?)

Try what I mentioned in my second post. It's been smooth since.

Yeah I have this issue as well with borderless window mode since the DT patch. I'm using Riva Tuner Statistics Server to cap the frame rate since the in-game fps limiter is pretty broken. Full screen mode is fine but even switching to full screen then back to borderless doesn't fix it. Also toggling the UI completely off makes the issue even worse for some reason lol. Seems like some conflict with borderless mode and VRR.

Having same issue. Did try switching to full screen. That did fix the problem for a bit but started back up again.

I had the same issue, game was freezing (audio played, but everything else completely frozen and no inputs taken) every 30 seconds for 5-10 seconds at a time. Make the game completely unplayable. A complete reinstall of the game fixed it for about 15 minutes before it came back. The solution for me was a USB bluetooth dongle. Once I unplugged that, stutters went away for good. As soon as I plug it back in, stutters come back instantly. I know it's an odd fix, but worked for me.

Others in the Steam forums with similar issues have mentioned that unplugging a controller they had plugged in fixed it for them. I imagine what may be happening is the game is trying to do some scan or something for controllers, so try unplugging any bluetooth dongle or controller plugged into your computer. Can even try unplugging everything except your mouse and keyboard and see if it helps.

That is crazy enough to work. I will try that later today to see if it helps. I did try switching from window border less to full screen. Didn’t help. Also turned off the new feature (hide people around questgiver). Still did same thing. My headset is tied to a blue tooth dongle. Fingers crossed!

Had the same problem. Was a controller/keypad issue for me same as this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...l_update_even/

I mean, it's cool I got the issue resolved, but now I can't use my Azeron keypad w/out causing the game to stutter every 3 seconds.
