Another day went by without any proper communication from the devs on where we are with this issue, while other issues are constantly communicated about.
I really start to feel like a second-class citizen just because I play on a different platform. Next to some other issues the game had before Dawntrail (overzealous chat filter and weird inconsistent transition loading times), I think it shows the ‘inexperience’ of the dev team to handle the Xbox console platform in regards to testing of new patches. If there is truly some correlation with the server population with this issue as we currently think, it makes sense that it was not picked up before, but that just shows again a need for pre-patching or load-testing so that the issue could have been identified before it went out.
Therefore, please SE… tell us what the status of this issue is. Give us ANY indication when we might be able to play properly.
It is far better today, but it is still happening. Very hard to tell if they've changed something server-side (which would be surprising given it's only impacting Xboxes), or if there's just less people hopping on. (Additionally, mostly folk will be in the MSQ now, less hopping between zones/dungoens than at the start of the expansion - different behaviors will lead to different experences).
[Ironically as I was typing this I was hopping around (checking retainers, dropping off stuff at the grand company, checking markets, etc), and got the crash again when leaving the Gridania Inn and moving into New Gridania proper.
Interestingly, when logging back in it DOESN'T say that I logged out improperly, which it normally does after a crash.]

I switched to a dynamis server and while it's still happening it's rarely and relog times are short. I'm finding it at least playable this way. I am however just pushing msq not trying to do roulettes or anything

Finally, an answer!
An issue wherein the Xbox version becomes unresponsive when transitioning between areas
We have confirmed an issue in the Xbox version where the game client may become unresponsive when transitioning between locations, such as field areas and cities. Our preliminary investigation suggests that this issue is likely due to a phenomenon known as memory fragmentation.
We are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter, which we have prioritized to ensure a swift resolution. However, rectifying this issue requires the deployment of a patch to update the client. This process involves rigorous checks by our QA team, among other procedures, which means it may take several days to address.
We are working to expedite the release of this patch at the earliest possible opportunity. However, we regret to say that this process will require some time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to address the issue.
The likelihood of encountering memory fragmentation is reduced when playing on Worlds with relatively low populations due to the lower chances of encountering large numbers of characters on screen at the same time. Until we have resolved the issue, we kindly suggest you consider playing on either the Dynamis, Shadow, or Oceania data centers.
I'm on OCE where wait queues are like 8-12 people long - and I'm still getting it this morning. I'm sure population is a factor, but not the only one.
For what it's worth, while I'm annoyed, I'm 85% sure this will require a hotfix that goes through Mircorsoft cert.
(snip)
This is unlikely to be a datacentre-side issue (or it'd be impacting other platforms), which means a patch.
If you log in and there's no patch, the issue is very likely still there.
My job as a problem manager is safe for now.https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...8406d28f47a951

Finally. Feels good to hear, they are working on it and probably located the issue. If they need some time to fix it, I am fine with that. I guess everybody is.
Love that they are indeed aware and gave some solution to this. Hopefully they will fix it permanently soon.https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...8406d28f47a951
