World travel is shut down in DCs. You can transfer to Dynamis or Materia and back to your home world. I'm assuming since world travel is down that's probably why people can't get back/shuffle between worlds on your DC or things are so insanely congested right now that you'll have to wait.

Either way, this has been known about for weeks now through Lodestone and there have been 1 or 2 threads about it on here as well. I'm assuming the same can be said for Reddit and I'm sure there's at least 1 CC who made a video about it.

The servers have queues under 100 right now, they are not "experiencing server congestion" but they are still marked as "congested." They said the Return to Home World service would function, but it does not.

Lets not forget that we cant get on to play with our friends, but the home cities are back to being plagued with people AFKing and yet it wont let me into Faerie because its not my home world even though i want to do my MSQ with friends. This is pathetic

AFK timer is back on, people shouldn't be afking to any degree as they were before.

This restriction was put in place for a reason, because people flood certain servers/data centers and cause queues that take hours to get through. This is good for the whole, even if it's annoying for some.

If you want to play with your friends why not just meet on Dynamis or Materia?

Adding onto the thread because I also didn't receive any kind of notification in the game when I was transferring that I wouldn't be allowed to log in to the visiting world or return home for the new expansion. I really would like it if there wasn't any kind of fake restriction on the servers implemented like this. As other people have noted there are sub 100 queues for most worlds that are quoted as congested, when they are clearly not.

SE did post a warning, yes, which was amended an hour before the maintenance ended to include the parts about needing to return home to access the game. Prior to the announcement update during maintenance it was implied that only DC travel would be disabled, and logins on other worlds would be possible, albeit with a lower login priority. The current warning still recommends returning home, which is where the actual issue lies: If you're stuck away from home right now, the feature recommended in the article is not functional.

Additionally, it's unrealistic to expect every single player in the game to heed a news post warning. What about players that were unsubbed? Players that were busy the day before maintenance, and unable to log in? Players who simply missed this one single news post? Is it fair to assume that every active player is staying updated on social media/news? In an ideal situation, the warning would exist to help mitigate congestion issues like this, not eradicate them. Because there are always going to be outliers for whatever reason, and it's unfair to treat players as if they deserve to be punished when SE's systems are clearly at fault and failing here.

The plan was to speed through MSQ so we could get into the extreme trials, plus the light party has 3 members whos home world is actually Faerie, im the only one who hasnt yet transferred home worlds as of yet.
Logic just stated i should travel to them instead of going elsewhere yno, didnt realise i would be blocked from playing the game for 2 hours so far while i watch people /hum and talk in say chat in the home cities to not get afk checked :/

I mean, tbf, the people on Faerie have more of a right to be there than visitors since they actually belong to the server and they should have first go in line. It also shouldn't be shocking that Aether has disgustingly long queues considering how many people are there. I feel for you but this is just a result of everyone crowding onto one DC. I went to Materia and have been playing since servers went up with no issues.
