can login but black screen?

I am using the steam version and I can log in fine, but then when the game launches, it's just a black screen? no music, no graphics, nothing.

I fixed this with a nvidia driver update.

I finally got in the game for 1 minute before it crashed - black screen. It appears for me to be a graphics update issue. Sigh! back to 2k que

I had the same issue and tried logging in dozens of times over 40 minutes while looking for solutions. It seems to be an issue with steam specifically, and the way to fix it is by:
-Logging in but not hitting the play button
-Shutting down steam via task manager
-Pressing play should launch the game like it did for me.

Is it right after logging in from launcher? I also had a black screen in the beginning with FFXIV style cursor. During that my CPU was ramped up I think with some single-thread tasks. It took about a minute or so before it started to flashbang me with Dawntrail's title screen.
Perhaps it's checking the files or something and the length depends on system.

I solved it by updating my nvidia drivers to the last stable version 552.22. (Reddit reports the latest version 556.12 isn’t too stable)

I am having the same issue and I do not use Steam

Having the same issue and shutting down steam.exe before pressing "play" worked for me. Annoying as it means I can't use Steam's controller emulation and the game doesn't let me just plug my Dualsense directly.
