Re: moderation
The moderation team on the Japanese forums operates on a completely different level than the one on the English forums.
Posts on the JP graphical update thread have been deleted in a matter of hours (sometimes less) for things that to Western players would seem insignificant (especially considering the general atmosphere in here...), while on the EN forums rules and moderation seem to be a lot more lax, and posts get dealt with maybe (maybe) if they get reported.
Bug reports on the JP forums are taken somewhat seriously, and re-organized relatively quickly, while on the EN forums it takes several days for someone to look at one and categorize it as "not enough information" without a word when all the information is there and the template has been respected.
I've been banned for 10 days before for something I wrote on the EN forums (it was also related to the graphical update, if long-time lurkers remember I did say I was half-expecting to be banned and was doing it "for science"). It took them a week to delete my post and ban me, and then I received an email to inform me I had been banned, but the content of the message or the name of the poster that were joined as proof were not mine (it was much worse than what I said). I had to send a few emails for them to correct their mistake (I didn't contest the ban though).
A whole week for them to act. The thread had probably grown 10-15 pages by then and moved on. So that might explain a few things.
(It's also interesting that deleted posts on the EN side disappear without a trace, whereas on the JP side there's at least a notification of why it was removed)
(and for being a long-time moodud supporter I can say that the wording of their posts might have been too harsh for the Japanese moderation team, based on what I've observed in the past year. ofc that doesn't mean their request is not reasonable, I'd lose patience too)
Anyway, back to the topic.
I've been wondering if there is some sort of player community who have been discussing their problems with the graphical update outside of the forums?
The Thancred thread has shown that some organizing has happened on that side, enough to gather likes, make a website, share testimonies from players from different regions, etc.
I also know that JP players have been using a blogging platform to vent their dissatisfaction with the graphical update in a semi-anonymous space (and there's 5ch ofc).
Personally I don't think much more can be achieved from a collection of more and more tired individual complaints disappearing into a bottomless pit, and I'd rather discuss what players can do on a collective level to deal with the situation.
I don't think this platform would be suitable to discuss that, with the frequent derailings going on.
I don't know if such a community would achieve anything, but it's still something that's been on my mind, so if anyone knows of anything...

I made another graphically detailed, composed, bug report.
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...52#post6693452
It was moved to 'Duplicate Bugs'.
'Reports that have been moved to this category will not be investigated.'
Literally what is happening right now:
They f hates me.
I have also made some reports about the new graphical update and the many normal-/parallax mapping errors. They cancelled it as "Insufficient information". So i will never report a FF14 bug again because it is not worth the effort.
Cheers
Sadly, you need to insist for them to move them to Accepted Bugs. If you provide additional video footage or images, it's more likely to go through.
We shouldn't have to insist when the JP forums accept bug reports easily, even without following the template, but it's what it is.
I feel like at this point it's futile to post on here (at least in my case) as the dev team has shown that they are reluctant to make any actual major changes, so I wouldn't be opposed to the potential creation of a space.I've been wondering if there is some sort of player community who have been discussing their problems with the graphical update outside of the forums?

I also know just as much as you do, so it's most likely that people are talking about it privately if at all.

Dawntrail Graphics Update Character Feedback (Female Au Ra Face 1):

I'm wondering if making a dedicated carrd or website that organizes all the info together into one spot by category would work.. for example I did that for the initial Elezen thread (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...lezen-feedback), but I didn't end up doing it for the next ones. We did get several fixes for Elezen, but the duskwight eyebags issue is still ongoing, along with certain eyebrows not being the same as before, and the mouths in particular for certain mouth shapes and face types.I've been wondering if there is some sort of player community who have been discussing their problems with the graphical update outside of the forums?

If it was all compiled together, including the info and pictures on the JP forum as well, I wonder if it would get more traction by the devs.
However, it's also a lot of work. I'm admittedly a bit demoralized, so I'm not sure I'd like to tackle it. And, in some sense, this kind of thing should be done by the paid members of the dev team and not the customers like us who are just regular players...
I've seen bug reports accepted purely on the basis that it's a known issue that they are planning to address, so it was moved right to "Planning to Address". That's probably why they accepted the JP one.
Uploaded pictures that impactfully show the issue do help, because it makes it absolutely undeniable that there is a problem and crosses any sort of language barrier. Another important thing is the steps to consistently reproduce the bug in a way a developer can understand.
Mods are quite obviously the GMs btw.

It's been frustrating having bug reports of the Female Miqo'te face 2 eyebrow error either moved to "Working as Intended" or ignored, and still no fixes to it after A Petition that has had unanimous consent thus far. If the most recent bug report I sent through the official website doesn't show results, I don't know what else it'll take to get them to acknowledge this.
