i'm holding on to my dated green iron plate set if only for display and nostalgic reasons. let us keep our D-Gear but remove all the dated recipes. i also agree that we should add some of the dated gear back in as non dated gear.I don't know what kind of database transfer they'll do with the new server, but I feel all the Dated recipes shouldn't be carried over. The easiest way would be to handle dated items like the Guild Marks; they disappear in ARR. That gives people time to try to sell them on the MW or vendor them before the servers go down. Keeping the Dated items in ARR will just serve to confuse new players.
Correct.
New gear = huge Seal grind or umpteen instance/group runs. Most of the friends I had early on have gone, the shell I'm in is moribund and I see no point trying to find a new one before 2.0.
If SE delete all my gear for no useful purpose whatsoever then I'll not play 2.0, simple as that. There is NO point in deleting items that already exist, at all.
Some MMOs delete obsolete items all the time once they "clean up" or remove a means of obtaining it unless it's a rare item, i.e if it's a Ring of Slaying that gives you 70 attack and 120 STR, of course that wouldn't get deleted, but a bronze mail that's been long replaced and you can no longer buy from NPCs or anything of sort? That gets deleted once they clean up redundant items in an update.Correct.

You're also incorrect about one thing:
New Gear = Crafted with new recipes and instead of being able to wear high end gear at level 1, you have to actually level to wear it -- most dated gear is "optimal level (x)" which you can wear at any time you want even if you get no benefit whatsoever, they clearly wanted to get out of that system for the most part.
There are some pieces, mostly crafting clothes, where the Dated Version is somewhat better or situationaly better.
It'd be nice if they could intigrate the stats on similar pieces.
Currently the only nice thing about Dated Gear is that it spiritbinds faster... *winkwink*
Well, the sooner we know the better... The hoarder in me has been saving stuff for quite some time, and I think it's about time to visit a vendor and purge my stock so to speak. I know we have lists of deprecated materials and items from previous patch notes, but it would be nice to have a comprehensive list prior to 2.0 that includes all items in the game since release that will not be in 2.0...

Dated = confusion
Did you even read my post or just go for the tl;dr version? It does not affect anything. Right now there's nothing they can do about the dated equipment, and we probably won't see any changes until ARR (2.0 or whatever you want to refer to it as.) is released. I even posted suggestions to counter cluttering up item searches. Remove the ability to list these on the wards/auction house/whatever they add in for publicly selling items for. You can list them in your personal bazaar or trade them but cannot put them up on public selling markets.
I can definitely agree with this part. If they were updated but left with an optimal level/favored class setting they could still be useful. Though it just depends on what changes they make to them. I still use certain pieces of dated equipment for my crafting classes when leveling them up. If you're not playing a supported class you're stuck using crakows and gaiters until you can use the vintage thighboots for one example. So I use the dated thighboots (I got a pair for levels 16, 26, and 36.) up until I can.

My vote is kinda conditional on some new items having similar looks, color options and/or stat options of dated gears. I'll go into that at the end.
Remove dated gear recipies.
Leave current dated gear.
Totally optional > Provide a +1 spirit bond bonus to dated items (to help alot of them out the door ^^)
Do not list dated gear on markets. Only tradeable between player/player trade.
Remove dated ingredients or "midway" synthed items (aka the stuff that is only used in dated items, but not the finishd product.) So theres no hoarding of outdated ingredients that could somehow come back to bite.
Change Datted tag to something like Vintage. Maybe Inherited or Classic.
Now you have Classic gear. It can't be reproduced because someone hoarded all the mats for it. It can't be synthedcause theres no recipies for it. But those who have it, and like it, not only still have it, but have a nifty "Classic" tag on it.
It can't be sold in any way besides player trade which for a new player coming post 2.0 would make it a sort of "treasure hunt" if they got a piece of "classic" gear.
Why i said conditional in the beginning is because there are some noticable gear gaps in lower levels that could use some of the Datted skins. I'd rather not see thme disappear because i like some of them.
Some of the dated gear also has some stat bonuses that while not optimum on total, are slightly different enough that you can put them to use if your after a certain stat in that slow.
And also since i hold out hope for Vanity slots, i'd like anyone who comes later to be able to use some of the neat skins that the datted items have without having to find a datted item someone might have.
Also the reason for removing the half-finished items would be 1: because theres no need for them later so you don't need to transfer them when we switch from 1.0 to 2.0. and 2, on the off chance a new recipie comes out, theres less reason to worry about either using a past item again, and folks have alot of them, or making a very similar item that is slightly confusing cause someone may have the old one, and not the new one, and it won't synth.
Those would be my thoughts.
Idk where did u get that info but anyway there are also different aspects. For example all new jackboots got that metal plate on them which is something I do not liek at all. Dated ones don't have it and thus look way better imo. Bandanas got weird tribals on them while I like plain ones etc etc
Got it from back at the time they discussed changing the items, it also included having all colours available. You could probably find it in old dev tracker posts.Idk where did u get that info but anyway there are also different aspects. As we had no word saying the opposite, it must still be true.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
