For example, the reason nonstandard exists is because the umbral ice rotation does very little damage, and swapping from AF to UI and back is also a huge damage loss. The obvious solution to that while still forcing standard gameplay is to make UI have a real rotation, and make swapping do real damage. Hell, why are we using level 35 skills all the way at level 90, soon to be 100? Wouldn't we have learned how to swap with better spells?

Why is fire 1 and blizzard 1 separated from fire/blizzard 3? Would it not make sense that as we grow more skilled, one upgrades into the other? There's a reason I think this class will get a hasty rework during DT, and probably will get something akin to monk treatment between now and 8.0 to fix the actual design flaws of this class. Not just a quarter of them while the other 3/4ths are left hanging naked in the breeze for all to see.
The biggest problem with BLM for a beginner is how horrific the leveling experience is.
It's missing critical skills at low levels, it feels awful to play all the way to near cap and your rotation/how the job works literally change every 10 levels.
There is no point in even discussing "making BLM better for beginners" until what's, imho, the worst leveling experience in the game is changed. I'd love to see numbers on how many people start as Thaumaturge and change to another job before cap. I definitely wouldn't stick to the job if I was starting XIV tomorrow.
(Over half of non-standard lines don't even need mana ticks, so they could've gotten rid of those without even changing the core of the non-standard lines. But I was even referring to that anyway, idk why we're pretending that was a thing a beginner did when playing BLM. I don't think TOP p6 min/maxing is "beginner BLM" territory)

And, fwiw, awful leveling experience isn't a BLM-only problem. This game is abysmal before level 80. It's almost criminal they force you to slog through all the msq while deteriorating low level gameplay with literally every expac.
