    It's not a matter of not enough resources, it's a matter of the game's design philosophy that is fundamentally broken. They could add as many bells and whistles they want to combat design and it'll never be fun as long as the fights are scripted and predictable.
    Like many mediocre game designers nowadays their only tools are making things follow a script, or making things follow a RNG.

    Oh, you're right. I'm sure the graphics engine programmers who worked on the graphics update would also have helped with class/jobs related gameplay programming if only they weren't so busy being specialized in a different domain.

    For most job they did nothing but add 1 mechanically inconsequential skill.
    dawntrail doesn't feel much like an expansion, it's more like a patch.

    And this is with 4 years worth of development as opposed to 2.5 years in the early model of ARR->HW->SB. They used to develop more content in less time.

    Maintenance mode continues.

    All credibility is lost when someone uses a phrase like "maintenance mode" to describe the polar opposite of it. Maintenance mode is when nothing new is being added to a product. We're about to get an entire new MSQ with side quests, raid storyline, alliance raid storyline, etc. that will easily be 60+ hours of new content. That's more than most "expansion packs" for games add to it. What expansions generally don't do, however, is utterly and completely change how a game works.

    I'm confused with the person who linked this as a response to the graphics update. We're on the 5th expansion (counting ARR as the new "base" game), and this is the first significant graphics update they've done. That's the complete opposite of an "unhealthy obsession" with graphics...

    I can't believe this needs to be explained to you. He didn't mean that they're obsessed about it, but that they're putting graphics as a bigger priority instead of the gameplay.

    AST 7.1 rework confirm.
    Astro Lost Lords 1 per minute, 2 cads (1 in burst window) in 2 min and Macrocosmos now are lost DPS. In general Astro its around 20% weaker than in 6.5 and will have struggle in old ultimates, also AST dps its HALF what whm can offer... and we have CARD DRIFT - because cards have 15 sec buff and Divination is 20, so you need hold your cards 5 seconds to optimize your rotation with raid buff.

    ASTRO need FIX:
    Macrocosmos make it neutral dps
    Cards: make it 20s
    Potency buff to Malefic skills in all lvl range.

    Do people struggle to read intentional hyperbole that much

    I don’t need to be told that “maintenance mode” means “they aren’t putting enough new features into the game or they aren’t reinventing the wheel” and that “obsession with graphics” means they are putting it above gameplay

    Is this like a regional difference thing, I used to notice it annoyed renthras when he was still on the forums, intentional hyperbole is totally normal as a speech pattern where I’m from

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
