    Make updates availble via torrent.

I feel like a simple and easily applicable way to get the downloads to players faster would be to allow the option to torrent the updates. Direct download when running the game will remain of course, but allowing a different route for access of the files will not only speed up the download times for the "classic" way, but also make accessing the files a lot easier.

Perhaps the easiest way is right after the file check when initiating the game, prior to beginning the download allot the player to select the download via direct or by torrent file. This would mean of course that you would need a 3rd party application (which would be the only reason this wouldn't work) unless SE implements a filesharing program in their game program.

    Thoughts?

The current DL system is a torrent and there is a way to get around the current updater if you are having trouble with it. Most people seem to have more luck with their own torrent programs. I can elaborate on how to do it if you'd like.

Please, that would be great. I haven't updated a fresh update since 2010, so maybe things have changed?

I just hope in 2.0 they'll be able to do hot-patches without even taking the servers offline for hours. I know of one MMO that does this without interrupting gameplay, and sometimes as you zone into a new area it does the patch download right there at the sametime.

^^^ That folder that rokien said.

You must begin the download with the game client because it pops a file into your metainfo. It should be titled the date of the patch. Can close the client after that. Load that file into the torrent program and save the patch data into the patch folder within 48eca647. When you next run the client the game will detect the patch and start installing.

Well, Yeah I do that exact thing, and some patches it still runs just as slow as the FFXIV patcher.. I'm using bittorrent currently.. is their any Torrents you would Recommend me?

Also to Rokien, I know others and myself have been very rude to you and I know how you feel when ideas/comments get shunned , and I am sorry for that.

I have not had any issues with Utorrent, but I haven't actually needed to use it in literally a year+ so someone can probably offer better advice lol
