Why not release it earlier?

The maintenance announcement literally says, "This maintenance will not end before the scheduled ending time."

If I had to guess, SE wants everyone to be able to plan on logging in at/after a specific time rather than being stuck to their PC or console hoping that the servers come up early.

Weird. Because if you look at the EU version of the announcement it doesn't say quite the same thing.

I suppose the NA version is the correct one though, because that's how they have done it in the past.

I seriously hope the NA version is correct, because them releasing the content earlier than the announced time is always hard to plan around, and results in wasted, sleepless hours of spamming the login on the chance they go live early (which they did *a lot* in the past).

None of the x-pac early access maintaince times have ever ended early. Even if they finish early, they boot them up to the point the only thing left to do is flip the "enable logins" switch until the scheduled time.

I think that is really saying "it will NOT end early, but it could end later" which is highly unlikely but they have to say it as a disclaimer so people don't freak out.

That means that it will not end earlier but if something goes wrong it'll end later. It happened before, but with two day maintenance it's more unlikely.

Expansions never ever end up earlier. Not even big patches end up earlier. Only small patches, like the last one we had in June 10th.



All you can do is what I'm gonna do. Call in sick, set up the alarm to wake up 30 minutes earlier and then try to log in when it's time. :P
