finally the end of version 1 !!!
They never really said when its going to land is it? All they ever really said is that 1.23 will be the conclusion of the 7th umbral era. And isn't the main event of the 7th umbral era that dalamud fell? Just based on that I think it should be falling. But im just taking a guess it very well could be until 2.0 but idk it just seems logical to me since they said in 1.23 it's suppose to be drawing the 7th umbral era to a close.
It's apparently in the 2.0 trailer so highly unlikely anything of the sort will happen. It's probably just the intro of XIV 2.0 where it happens.
You know, I kinda wonder....
Will the new storylines and NPCs and such refer to the calamity of Dalamud's falling? Like, how the Crystal War was such a big piece of Vana'Diel's history that nobody got to touch until Wings of the Goddess, but was always present in storylines and such.
Will the new players who start FFXIV know the Lore of the 6th Astral Era that only us current players actually experienced?
Really thinking about it, that's cool as hell.
I'm still wondering how they're going to manage to 'conclude'.
I mean... lets say you finish the 'final boss'. But the servers aren't going down for a few more days, so it can't really be 'the end'. Neither can the current system hold up to an epic all open world boss. really ... Nor could they say it's at this time during these hours because then everyone would log in and crash the servers.
I do think like the INN rooms, we'll be thrown into Cut-scenes when we log in...
But as far as 'concluding'. I don't know.
My best guess is that perhaps after the 'official' end of service they might say, log in any time during the next week to see the 'final scenes', (no playable content), then the game will kick you off and that's it?

Make it happen.
NPCs that survive/still exist will more than likely refer to the old world just like in XI people still referred to Tavnazia even though you can never visit it. The only issue is it's hard to have NPCs on the same timeline as the players...every NPC still refers to 17-24 years ago even though hundreds of years have past since then.
I guarantee they're going to stretch the conclusion out to coincide with the introduction of 2.0 Alpha.
/points at character name.
