How to SS Chatlog?

Anybody know how to take a screenshot of the chatlog?

If you're using windowed mode, you can just use the windows snipping tool prioviding you have windows 7.

In all other cases though, I think the best option is probable to press the "print screen" button, then open up mspaint and make a new document, then hit ctrl+v (or right click the work area and go to paste).

The most common and best way is a Third Party Program called FRAPS. FRAPS doesn't interfere with the games like and is compatible with any game you play on PC. All it is is a screen capture tool that records images associated with video games. (It won't recognize anything other than video games and the occasional PDF document for some reason...)

The Screen Capture tool for screen shots is available for free as well as the ability to record 30 second video game clips. To record more than 30 seconds, you'll need to pay for the full version. You can get it from FRAPS.com. It's a legitimate Australian company, so support them if you like the product.

You have to open it up, and assign what hot keys you want for video. Also, you need to determine where you want pictures to save. It's pretty simple.

The paid version also lets you take screenshots directly to png, if that's interesting.

If you ever plan on making FFXIV related videos game related videos, it's worth the 35 or 40 dollars.

I think the free version allows for .jpg and .gif though.

You can also run the game trough Steam and take screen shots with F12. This also gives you the Steam Overlay which has an internet browser.

JPG and BMP. GIF would make no sense, as it is 256 colors only, and the compression it does isn't even all that efficient.

If you're going to make videos, however, there are other programs that can also some real compression on the fly, which sure beats the 2 GB per minute you get from fraps' video capture.
