    Will we enter market, airship ports and headquarters through doors, or through menus?

    One of the design aspects that really bothers me, as I know bothers many others in the community, is the menu-to-enter-a-place system.

    I know most of the map redesign will affect the lands outside of cities, but... How many of you out there agree with me when I ask that, if the developers are going to fix one aspect of the cites in version 2, that aspect be the elimination of all menu entrances to sectors of the city? Perhaps we could say it's not the highest of priorities, but it frankly affects my feeling of the environment an awful lot.

    We were told, I think by the previous development team, that the menus would be temporary. We (or at least I) would like to know if that statement still stands.

    I think it definitely should. What about you?

    Ah, and another thing: It would be much nicer if the inter-city teleporters displayed a spell effect of some sort, like all other teleporting in the game does.

    menus are kinda needed atm they would have to make areas as a whole to be able to enter MW or GC and the other areas right now and if 2.0 dont do much to the citys we might have to enter other zones from the same area again.

    I hope I don't have to stand infront of the same door to enter 12 different areas.

    The only one that is understandably instanced is the Market wards.

    Why airship port?
    Last time I visited Gridania airport there was no menu ^^

    And for the other airship port you enter the lift and press the right button. Don't know if they can do this without a menu where you choose which floor you want.
    Or they can build some stairs.

    I'm all for doors and whatnot up to a point. I just don't want to see the crowded PC killer when you have like 200 people all hanging out in the same 10 yalm area.

    I do also hope they do away with the menu used to move to different areas with in the city. Really makes it feel like it's not a real location. I'm pretty sure I heard it's going to be changed in 2.0. I hope this is still true.

    I personally could not care less about menus, I've always been a fan of fast-travel in games (hey there, Persona )

    Also your example about the airship is slightly flawed! The menu you need to go through is the one that is nescessary so that only those with a ticket pass. I don't think I know of a better way short of invisible wall to handle that. Minor point aside, what I said in my first line.

    I prefer minimal menus all around. If anything, that's what really breaks my immersion. Hey yeah, so here's this rich and deep worlds for you to explore...through menus! Oh how fun!
