I do miss my hand-picked squadron.
I do miss my hand-picked squadron.
Low blow, Interject, headgraze, and soon Gapclosers.
Guildhests were a left-over from 1.0. There is still a roulette for it, but it just ends at what, level 40? That queue never pops for anyone because people believe it's dead, and because it has no content after 40, people just don't care about it. There is room to stick some of the cut fights here that were removed from the game (eg like old ARR fights we can no longer play like the original Livia fight.)I'm sure there are a lot of features that have gone thrown by the wayside over the years.
I personally would love a revamp of the Grand Companies. They felt like such a missed opportunity, especially for, say, MSQ Trusts.
What feature(s) would yall like to see revived/improved?
Also, why not have a dedicated "solo instance queue" where everything you've unlocked in the game is listed, so
1) you can try it again with another job (even job instances with a different job would be interesting to try.)
2) you can find it. How many times have you stopped before accepting the solo instance in the MSQ, Job quest or side quest (eg Hildibrand, Beast Tribes) and just don't remember where they are? If you could just queue it without finding them, it would save time.
I do hope they do something with the remaining Grand Company ranks, just because it's there makes people constantly ask about it.
Problem is, some of those systems were abandoned for a reason. Maybe they just didn't work, or were replaced by a newer one, or had a purpose that's been rendered moot 10 years later, etc.
Chocobo companions - Sure, they could increase the level cap, but to what end? The open world is already easy enough that it's not necessary in the first place.
GC ranks - Same thing. Yeah, they could add more, but why? What purpose would it serve?
(IIRC, the last time this was asked in an interview the answer was something along the lines of "since GCs don't really do anything right now there's no point in adding new ranks until we figure out where to go with them.")
Hunting logs - Replaced by the daily/weekly hunt system, which lets it be ongoing content rather than a one-and-done thing.
Squadrons - Probably always just supposed to be a prototype for Trusts and duty support.
Guildhests - Designed from the start to teach players about mechanics as they level up. There's no real reason to make more, especially since over time the game has gotten much better about teaching mechanics in regular dungeons and raids as you level.
And so on, and so forth. Most dead systems are dead for a reason and don't need to make a comeback int he first place.
New purchasable materials.GC ranks - Same thing. Yeah, they could add more, but why? What purpose would it serve?

They could have put the daily and weekly hunt bills in the hunting log instead of making them key items.Hunting logs - Replaced by the daily/weekly hunt system, which lets it be ongoing content rather than a one-and-done thing.
Anyway, I want to see new chocobo racing courses. They don't even have to update the mechanics, just add courses for the new regions we've been to. It's no wonder content dies if they don't bother to update it.
Job quests. I wanna visit old friends and go on small little further adventures with them.
Chocobo's do take a long time to fully max out, but I agree. At least we get to have bardings and dyes. The DPS of my bird doesn't seem to scale up, and it sometimes struggles with tanking while I'm playing a healer. It's a fairly decent healer at least.
Grand companies felt like they were a relic of ARR, and our squadrons stop being useful now that trusts have become better. We sort of outgrow these once we venture into Stormblood. Maybe they should expand expeditions o higher levels, like submarines so we can get some rare items and huge sums of gil or something. Mine farm me MGP each week.
The materiel containers are a nice add, they may give us 5.0 and 6.0 boxes.
I miss getting miniatures of bosses for housing decor. We got a few in Heavensward (including, irritatingly, only two of the Warring Triad), then Susano and Llakshmi, and then nothing aside from the Weapon busts.
More Companions, Grand Company, and Squadron stuff would be nice.
Though the addition of Beastmaster is probably going to be the closest we get to "more" combat pets, the plot seemingly requires the Grand Companies to be doing *something* to justify expanding them, and the game really wants to push the Trusts system which I haven't experience yet, but it's telling already that I spent more time in Heavensward taking my squad out to do stuff but never once used duty support with the important story NPCs, lol.
I wish the chocobos would've become a bigger thing.
