I know this is obviously a much repeated thread topic in the pvp forum, but I would still like to add my support for some sort of Open World PVP. I know the majority of FFXIV community dislikes PVP, but there are still some who would like the OPTION in the game. Anytime PVP gets brought up the anti-pvp community gets enraged. We provide all sorts of ideas, try to catter to their fears and are willing to negotiate some sort of acceptable agreement and its still met with complete disdain. We have voices and opinions too and its saddening to see so many unwilling to provide the in game freedoms and choices we desire.
I personally think it would add some depth and excitement to the zones/traveling. With rewards for pvp in zones that are less used to the end game community, bringing them back to life. As I feel like there isnt enough immersion and things to do within zones, but thats a different topic for elsewhere within this forum. Its well known it doesnt fit the alliance storyline but a simple remedy would be to add a bounty system/penalization, while still receiving some sort of PVP reward or simply creating seperate/minor faction(s) that weave pvp within their questlines. Alternative options that would also have minimal impact on the PVE community are:
1. Open World PVP servers. This would hardly effect the PVE community as you would be on your own PVE server and would keep the toxicity anti-pvpers dread, away from them entirely. (Dont forget blacklisting is a thing)
2. The option to toggle PVP on and off, but only in City State locations, much akin to Diablo or World of Warcraft. This for those who like PVP but still at certain times, dont want to be bothered while questing.
3. A zone specifically for PVP, preferably large enough for questing/gathering and not just for a giant team battlefield. Again like WoW and Elder Scrolls Online etc.
4. Dont allow starting areas to have PVP so that new players dont have a bad first time experience. Although redundant if there is a toggle option.
Sure a lot of other games have some toxic players, but I honestly think by and large the Final Fantasy franchise is a respectable community and I think we can manage an open world community in such fashion. Otherwise they really didnt get the message the franchise has been trying to tell us all these years.
If anyone has any other supportive ideas or even criticism, please reply your thoughts.
