Yeah, that's what I meant when I said 'XIII-3 notwithstanding'. I'm not particularly sure how that connects to Dissidia's angle on the multiverse, which is the one XIV takes to be true while also keeping a reasonable distance from it.

Like, does that mean that XIII's universe eventually transforms into the one with Earth in it? That it's connected to Earth through a link that's out of the 'network' that connects the other FF universes?

With regard to multiverse shenanigans, I've always been a (very grumpy) proponent of the idea that authorities from both games should opt into the connection before a two-way connection is considered hard canon.

Hard agree, otherwise, we have to accept that Donald Duck is both a created character by the Disney Company, and also an actual person who helps save the multi..verse..? Because Kingdom Hearts is connected to Final Fantasy, and FF is connected to Nier.

I really wish Nier had been given the FF 13/15/etc “just for fun” treatment with a single trial kinda bit..cause whoooo-boy.

Sort of both? It's not really continuing his story in a meaningful way, it's more 'and then he just kept doing his thing until someone else took him down'. But... by all appearances, it IS the real guy.
