Help finding some info on V2 character change

Ok, I apologise in advance if this is in the wrong area. I was reading up on V2 the other day and about how we'll get the chance to change our characters to one of the new races if we so choose, however I couldn't find any information on if we do this will we be allowed to also change our character name to match the new race. Does anybody know if we will be able to or if we'll be stuck with our old names?

We don't know much more of that. The confirmed points are these:
-after 2.0 official launch, you'll have the chance to change your aspect
-you can also choose to change race
-they are evaluating name change, but since could give database problems they could scrap the idea. They are trying indeed, so you can hope

I agree we could use some more information.

It may say in 2.0 launch, and obviously this is dosent count as in 2.0 beta launch / client merge.

It would totally suck if we could change server for example in 2.0 beta but not being able to
change looks / name etc, or the reverse like...change looks / name but not servers.
(Sorry but im as confused as anyone else...lol)

I mean sitting here waiting when 2.0 beta isnt far away now is killing me.
Like the suspense wasnt enough.

You can't play with your char during beta. You make a beta char for the beta while SE transfer your datas to the new servers. After 2.0 go live you can play your char again.

Yoshi said transfering our data from 1.xx to 2.xx could take up to a month so this will be happening during the Beta, later on towards the end of the Beta we'll probably be using our characters because they'll need to test if everyone transfered currectly

messed up using our current characters and couldnt restore it.

These 2 years been hell, i cant imagine what insane hell/ragnarök
the FFXIV's staff gone through.

But they did one hell of an improvement.

Thats the only thing i remember Yoshi-P said something about,
our current ones will look abit diffrent in 2.0.

So...im guessing they will atleast focus on the character
creation process making it possible for us to atleast

change our looks once at start-up of official 2.0.

Hopefully the add a Tonberry barbershop or something
for those who wanna change their hair later.

Version 2.0 Database structure is completely different, so it will take huge man hours to manually transfer all of the infomation over to the new db structure, Yoshi said in an interview it'll likely take 1 month.

I'm almost positive though that later on in the beta we'll be able to use our characters because they will need to test that everything has carried over correctly, if they don't do this Version 2.0 could be a shitstorm if a mistake is made in data.
