Hi guys.

How do I turn on vsync while using windowed mode on a non-aero desktop?

If I use aero, I don't get any screen tearing in windowed mode, but if I turn aero off, it's all over the place.

I've tried turning on vsync in my nVidia control panel. I have also tried finding a vsync option in the game's own graphics settings, but I can't find anything.

You can't.

That is one of the main differences between windowed vs fullscreen mode. Windowed mode it is often very difficult (if not impossible) to use v-sync.

Yeah. I did some more checking around with a few other games. I run most other "real" games in fullscreen so I hadn't really noticed this before. I ended up just going back to Aero (which let me use vsync) while at the same time disabling most of the aero effects.


The reason I turned it off in the first place was that I was kind of tired of the fancy looks and wanted a more clean and simple window style. Just disabling shadows and transparency while still using Aero achieved more or less the same effect.
