You can make gear or buy gear and spirit bond it and than turn said gear into materia and make a pretty penny.
you can do 8 leves a day, at the highest tier, and easily earn 100k off drops + rewards, if not more, and thats less then an hours work.

so being broke is a choice, and you gotta be really lazy to be there or spend way too much on other stuff
