I am of the opinion that the current speed run conundrum is actually a simple fix. Add the Dark light body pieces to one of the other chests. Change the speed run chest's possible pool to Include all pieces of darklight, Finally fix the speed chest so its available active loot pool reflects that of the other triggered chests.

Ie if you blitzed cc and only got the speed chest and boss chest the boss chest would have it's slight chance of dropping its darklighty goodness. but when you hit the speed chest the noogety goodness is yours to fight over.

It is a win win for every one. Hard core players will not have to run dungeons until there brain is the consistency of runny tapioca. less skilled or geared players still have a shot all be it minor shot at the entirety of the available loot pool

The point is not simply that something requires a speed run but that drop rates are not consistent to all players (Similar to relic melds) and that there is no progression aspect to running dungeons.

Like I said earlier, people would be much more comfortable spamming content in PUGs (Allowing more of the playerbase to experience all the game has to offer) if there was a 100% drop rate item/KI that could be turned in for any piece of DL gear. I can run with my LS, get good drop rates because we got a 17/25m run, and I can make progress with shout groups who may not SR but can still clear.

You're right, removing speed run as a way to get specific gear is an easy fix but it's by far the last thing on the list of "what's fucked up about this event".

*nods* I will have to agree. The 100% token drop rate on Garuda was a beacon of light, so we can only hope that 2.0 will bring more and more progression and consistency for wins, even if it is only a little ^^

They have definitely over looked an aspect of relics in the form of materia availability. I would not be surprised to see an adjustment of materia creation rates, though I do fear if anything they will simply decrease other IV's to match that of our most sought afters.

Even though a WoW boss's pool had 20 items, they weren't all 1/20 chance to drop. Blizzard had weight's on them so that some items were 4% and some where 8% some were 12% etc but you always saw something.

Besides for some really awesome items at the lower end of the drop rate spectrum, I agree with Peng it was very easy to gear yourself in WoW but that was the nature of the revolving endgame they created; which btw I hated because it meant most of your work gets nullified each patch.

1-2% drop rate on each chest in AV/CC is extreme and hopefully SE can design a better way to handle items in 2.0, and eliminate speed rewards (doubt it) but I think some things from XI were done alright and could be changed.

Tier'd instances (Odin, Limbus) or progressive (Nyzul) that can possibly be added or even just BCNM's and they have it set up well through the leve system but nothing really became of it.

I dont understand, I thought OP complaining about materia melding step is unfair between those weapons, and the discussion is seem different than i expect...

    • Craft 1 item that gives 20k profit.
    • Craft 20 of those items and put it in the ward each day.
    • They sell and give you 400k profit (each day).
    • After 10 days you have 4M profit.
    • After 90 days you have 36M profit.

    Adventurers/Fighters
    • Buy 5 cheap items from ward (20k each) for spirit bond
    • Buy 5 sets of each (500k)
    • Go bond with wolves for an hour
    • Convert 25 items into materia
    • Should get at least 1M worth of materia (500k profit)
    • After 10 days you should have 5M profit.
    • After 90 days you should have 45M profit

Sorry no section for gathers/miners, I do not know those off the top of me head.

The suggestions above are using conservative numbers.
The downside of course is one will have to put some work into it (i.e., think what should be crafted, or think what should be bought to be spirit bonded). This could be a deal-breaker for some.

    I'm sorry but I do not know more simpler ways to make gil than this. On the plus side, if there were really simple ways to make gil then items would cost even more ^.^;;

Also, if you are really really struggling to make gil, then wait a few months and the relic weapon prices will drop even more (they are already falling). Will be pretty cheap in time.
