Is housing ever going to get fixed?

They'll never fix the housing system, because its current iteration keeps people like this...



...paying multiple subs, dumping money into the online store, etc.

An instanced house that I know won't evaporate if I need a break from the game would probably make FFXIV my forever MMO, but alas...

By the way, apartments don't count. I've had outdoor furnishings sitting unused in my saddlebag for multiple expansions now that I'd love to use, but instead all I can afford is a 20 ft square pod with ugly pillars along the walls.

The more you want a house, then there is a reason to keep you subbed forever. Certainly, I don't get why you want a house (unless some sick ERP) when apartments exist.

I have a house and it has nothing to do with ERP. I like Having the ability to decorate, having the ability to decorate a yard, to grow things in garden. Yes I'm aware you can decorate apartments too, but I like the bigger space and such that a house grants.

I was lucky enough to get one, but have since made a new character, can’t share the house…. This is backward and not helping the problem. How hard would it be to make houses shared.

Gonna rattle off my usual:

- We just opened up 4 new servers worth of housing, I got my dream medium with 0 other bids on it and there are still mansions sitting in some servers.
- If a house means that much to you that you're doing this for 2 years straight and not succeeding, maybe it's time to consider moving for the house. You're ultimately choosing to put yourself through 900 bid plots instead of working around the system to get what you want. In the time that you've been non-stop bidding, I've gotten several houses and moved servers for free. Which seems like a better time in the long run?
- Being afraid of losing friends just because you're not on the same server anymore is a bad excuse because your friendships should exist regardless of where you are + cross-DC is a thing. If that's an issue to them, get some new friends who actually care about you.
- Square has no incentive to provide instanced housing outside of meeting a community made demand. How will instanced housing generate money to the same degree as chaining people to their subscriptions if housing is no longer tied to it?

These threads just come off like a self-made problem to me because there are alternatives to just tossing your name in with hundreds of other people. There are just too many people who'd rather bet on a 900 bid medium chance (I like how mediums were specifically mentioned because it always ultimately comes down to people not wanting small houses) than move and actually get a medium with no issues. I will never understand why.

Speaking of small houses, according to Paissa Exodus has had multiple smalls sitting there with 0 bids, one particular Goblet small has been there with 0 bids for 2 weeks. Why not go get that small and have an easy time, if you are actually going for the lowest bid plot?

P.S. Utilize Island Sanctuary for your outdoor furniture in the meantime.

We used to be able to add alts via a glitch but they patched it. They don't want it to be a thing.

I honestly think in many cases some just want a house for the sake of having it.

Whilst can only really comment in terms of my own experience of the ward my (small) house is on, I do often explore the Ward hoping to get ideas for additions to my house. And my experience is that there are a LOT of houses, of all sizes, which have had little or nothing done to them.

For example, there are two Large houses near my small, one of which is right next door. And whilst both have had some attention paid to the exteriors, the interiors are basically, other than a random table or chair here and there, empty. I never see the owners, but they must still visit as the house would obviously be demolished otherwise.

As I said, there must be a 'want for the sake of be able to say I have it' mindset in play, which is a pity when you consider the number of players who want a house to actually indulge their creativity.

They do try adding new wards but they get taken up instantly. It's also a bit disproportionate because people want them on specific worlds or areas, while there may be less popular areas or less populated worlds with plots available.

Hopefully they can think about trying to add houses to Island Sanctuary and make it possible to teleport there, so that they can be instanced.

My servers has empty plots constantly. If yours is super contested every region got new servers in EW. Why did you not move server to get a home? No shortage on new servers.

No. Housing has been a problem since day 1 and Yoshi P has been vocal (10 years and no fix), about not fixing it.
Hell, we still have to do glitches to do basic stuff with furniture. Like, I've seen... Otherways... To do it, but SE refused to make it legit.

imo houses shouldnt be fc specific, and they should also be bolted to a players ff14 account, you should get 1 house if possible and be happy, i've had one for years, its pretty much my login/logout/striking dummy oasis.
