There are a couple of things I would like to see considered for the game in the future.
One, the simpler, is a character options setting to hide headgear in a cutscene. This would allow us to wear full face helmets and the like while still being able to see our characters faces while talking to others in an in game cutscene.
The other would be a bit more involved.
I would like to see characters from non MSQ content that are involved in story related issues appear in the MSQ as they logically should. For example, characters from raids, alliance raids, etc. that should be relevant.
An example of this would be in the 6.x patch content we should, by all rights, have involved Unukalhai and Taynor. Y'Shtola is desperately searching for ways to open a portal to the 13th for multiple purposes. The fact that I know two people on the first that can literally do this with nothing more than their minds should have been central to the story. Another would be Gaia for a large number of obvious reasons.
My suggestion to handling this would be a gray informational popup similar to the one in 6.1 when after completing the correct portions of the MSQ you are presented a message advising that you are now eligible to begin Myths of the Realm alliance raids beginning in Old Sharlayan.
In a case where a character from an alliance raid, raid series, trial series etc. appears for the first time in the main story a message would appear with the text "The character Gaia originated in the FFXIV Shadowbringers Eden raid series beginning with the quest "In the Middle of Nowhere" found at the Anxious Crystarium Guard located in the Crystarium at (X:9.7, Y:12.3)"
This feature would allow for a more comprehensive involvement of characters into the story that should be present due to prior involvement that directly relates to the current story and would also have the added benefit of encouraging players who have not completed the mentioned content to do so.
As the story grows and encompasses more and more situations, themes, and places the previous content that could be potentially very important that took place in a non MSQ portion has more and more potential to be relevant and, in some cases, makes more sense to be involved than omitted.
