A simple solution is to change just the skin of the 3 basic primos. Keep the same power and effect, but change the skin only.

So with bahamut you summon the 3 original primos, with phoenix you summon the 3 new ones.

    Ifrit > ramuh
    Garuda > leviathan
    Titan > Shiva

Garuda and leviathan are close in visual terms, tornado and wind vortex > tornado and water vortex.

Titan and shiva > replace the stone attack visual with ice

Ifrit and ramuh > change fire explosions to lightning

    That's kind of boring.
If they were to reuse player animations and use the same casting pattern, the potency and effects would need to change, because otherwise what's even the point ? Simply having more summons doesn't add anything if they don't do anything special with them.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

If more primals are to be added but will not have anything unique to them other than a mere button/animation swap, it will accomplish nothing. The joy it will bring for seeing a new animation will not last you for approximately 2 years.

With EW BLM, even though you were still doing Blizzard 1/Fire 1 as part of your rotation, you have to at least do something to unlock Paradox. There's nothing like that with EW SMN... If each Primal had a specialization, like what the egis used to, then we're talking.. and with DT coming along, I hope the macro used to do the 1-button SMN rotation can fit Solar Bahamut so it will not be ruined so it will serve as a reminder to whoever thought of the rework be haunted of the atrocity they have made.

    - Seraphism is BAD.
    - Give us back Shadowflare and make Deployment/Emergency Tactics affect Biolysis
    - Give us back Rouse
    - Make pet management rewarding.

With a system where all skills replace others as you level, the removal of physical pets (including auto-attacks), and an incredible oversimplification, the SMN is probably the worst job in the game to play. It's boring, it's simple, and totally unrewarding.

FFXI's SMN is absolutely much, much better than this.

Quite honestly, i'm considering to play ff11 for what they have done to SMN and SCH. Though 11's SCH did not have a pet to manage, it does not have Seraphsim

It is very saddening that you drew in people who are into the pet mechanics, only to flip them off.
Maybe I should’ve said “old school FF Summoner” then. lol For me, Carbuncle was one out of like what? 20 or 30 things I could summon? And now I get 5, and in DT, 6. While I’d love it to do more, in this world it’s more like a focus of our aetheric energy, not so much a pet. And I definitely don’t want to have to micromanage its every move.

I’m really thinking they were already planning Beastmaster when they did SMN’s rework. In their mind, it was probably “some of them might be disappointed, but we’re going to give them an entire class built around pet management and make it better!” But I get that it being a limited class makes it less appealing to a lot of people.

Let's see.. aside from SMN, there's MCH with their Automaton Queen, DRK with Esteem..

Using your logic about Beastmaster, then MCH and DRK should lose their pets

I mean... Bahamut and Phoenix are as much pets as Queen and Esteem, your comparison doesn't really work.

The point I am trying to make was that removing every job that has a pet just to make way for Beastmaster is problematic.
