    Quality of life suggestions

    Alright so I've had a handful of ideas that I'd really like to see and I figured I might as well post them here. I know there's floods of suggestions and SE likely won't see them all, but here goes nothing.

    Expansion of the companion system: This system has so much potential but has been left on the floor too long. Adding a member of a maxed beast tribe as a selectable companion to level. Any notable npcs (i.e Raubahn, Thancred, etc) to call upon. The higher the level, the better the bond. Maybe have bond quests that teach them skills. Completing bond can give you a unique reward or title or both. Possibly adding companion based dungeons that are like solo versions where you use your companion.

    Customizable adornments to armor: Example being a crafter can attach a design on a piece of gear like a sigil, crest, or pattern that can be dropped from dungeons or crafted. These designs can be dyed as well to give that BiS armor everyone is wearing more uniqueness.

    Add FFXI style fishing to FFXIV: In ffxi when you fished you had to deplete the stamina of the fish and it almost felt like you were actually fighting with the fish to get it. Right now it's just as simple as hitting reel in to get it. I feel maybe people would like fishing more if it was more interactive.

    SMN ability that turns the egi into the primal for a short time: I hate the small egi's, i do. One neat idea i thought of without making a giant primal follow around a smn is an ability like enkindle, invokes the power of the primal to the egi. Maybe makes the smn unable to use anything during the process, but turns the egi into the actual primal/visage of for like 30seconds, doing some serious damage.

    Other job specific mounts: Honestly I know tanking is annoying so having the reward is cool, but I think each job deserves a job specific mount, even if dps have to do more expert roulettes than healers and tanks.

    Gathering fields for Free company: Like buying a house, or making an airship, I think a fantastic addition would be for a Free company to purchase land for resources, the more points spent could allow for the land to grow and produce greater gathering points. Allowing for gathering points only for those in the free company.

    Speed/Solo challenges of older dungeons: Adding achievements or rewards for soloing or beating older dungeons or trials. Most likely just titles, but maybe a reward after completing all.

    Support Job Role Slot: I realize this would completely change the system and so it'd be highly unlikely, but I always liked the idea of steering away from just the trinity.

    Co-op Emotes: If you use the emote itll prompt your friend to reciprocate and then the co-op emote will take place. (I.e piggback rides, lalafells sitting on shoulders, arm wrestling...)

    Several of those things you requested are either already planned or actually in the game.

    SE have stated they're working on a system where as part of new higher ranks in the Grand Companies, the player will be able to command a unit of Grand Company soldiers and use them instead of a party in instanced content. They haven't given a firm date on when this will be added though, certainly there exists roadblocks as to how best to add new ranks to GCs. But the important thing is, this is planned for the game, evne though personally I would love 1.0's Path Companions to return, but that is a different barrel of moogles...

    Besides already being able to dye armour (both direct dying and via a more complex 'enhancement' for more rare/special armour), you can also already add sigils to most types of armour - it is one of the benefits of being in a Free Company, in that once that FC reaches a certain rank the player can have that FC's sigil added to various parts of their armour (usually body or headwear, but sometimes gloves and legs can have such a sigil added as well). You have to speak to the npc 'OIC Man at Arms' in each GC HQ to do so, and it costs gil each time you have it added. Either way, this too is already in the game.

    This has been continuously requested and as I understand it, SE are planning on adding this to the game at some stage - apparently SE are still considering how best to do this though. So no concrete timeframe has been announced as to when this will happen though as far I know.

    The whole reason tanks and CNJ got special mounts was to encourage more players to actually play as those roles instead of taking the easy way out and going as a DPS for the entire game. Personally I don't think SE are going to really change this, especially as the CNJ mount is gained in a different way to the tank mounts (the CNJ's unicorn was gained through a very quick and easy quest after gaining level 30 and doing all your class quests, where as the tank ones are actually more accurately achievement rewards, that just happen to be rewarded for tanking a certain number of times in high level duties. The two are not really the same.

    Why? The whole point of solo challenging a dungeon is the fact you're already high level to do so and thus allow you to help a low level player who needs it but doesn't want to wait to find a party in DF. It's also a handy way of getting dungeon gear that you might have missed. There is already the weekly challenge to completing dungeons of any sort in the Challenge Log which can be undertaken as a solo without level sync, so this is already in the game in a way.

    No, this is not FFXI's Job system where your job was a unique entity and you set a sub job to it. Here the Armoury System is based on your weapon, where class and Job are determined by that weapon or tool. Thus no sub job. A Sub Job wouldn't 'steer it away from the trinity' either, it would be essentially the same as the cross class system we already have. Each class is already designated as a certain role, so a sub wouldn't change or replace that.

    First of all thanks for your thoughtful reply.
    Secondly, I forgot they had that in 1.0, but yes I'm not talking about commanding soldiers from GC, I'm talking about like how the chocobo is but having more variable companions.

    For adornments I realize we have the FC sigils, but I was thinking of a lot more designs/patterns that could go on armor, not just your FC sigil.

    For the job specific mounts, I realize that its a reward to entice players to play jobs that are more difficult, however I think a unique mount for each class would be awesome, even if they make it some difficult quest line or achievement. Almost like unlocking AF armor.

    And for the support role class, I guess I should have worded things better, I didn't mean the support job system from FFXI. I meant a Support class as in brd, geo, dnc, sch from FFXI. Jobs thats sole role is supporting the party. And that would break the trinity and like I said probably very unlikely given how dungeon setups are already.

    Agree with conpanion system should be further enchanced.

    For me I would like to have a companion that I can create myself. My unique and special companion. Since now is the era of interactive AI. I would prefer an interactive companion. A companion that has its own thinking but will never say no to you. Your perfect companion. You can basically do every content with them. Wont that be nice?
