Why should any of us root for Wuk Lamat?

Wish they make it so have a choose if support them or not. I played once another MMORPG that had branch story to it, where they let you choose if support the one or not. Why don't they for once have it where WOL gets the support to be a ruler of some place. I can't support a weakling.

This just isn't that type of game. They're telling a story and want that story to be consistent between players. I tend to find big, story impacting changes fit better into single player games anyway, as opposed to MMOs where those choices ultimately aren't able to matter all that much because they'd have to account for all possibilities going forward, in a game where everyone would be making different choices.

This ultimately isn't a choice driven game like your Mass Effects or Dragon Ages. SWTOR allows you to make changes I know, but then by extension those changes can't matter all that much to the wider story being told because it has to march forward regardless of the choices you and all the other players made.

DT definitely is off to a rough start since EW really hasn't done anything to make us care about Wuk Lamat or the storyline. If you vibed with her in the final half patch, then you may want to help her just cause. If you found her annoying like me...it's hard to want to? The void really needed to be its own expansion. Or...*something*. There's nothing wrong with the void story or EW main but it feels like the Return of the King theatrical version where they had to cram in too much stuff, cut and truncate some things too much, and while it was a good experience you feel it was missing something.

Supporting the weakest candidate means you get to fight all the strong contenders instead of just two. This also means there is leverage to either force alignment with the scion’s world order or directly seize power. Maybe the story will present some less cynical reason.

Who even cares? The entire ‘election’ storyline is obviously going to be hijacked and rigged by Ascians (because every plot thread in ffxiv ends with ascians). We’ve already seen one from the promotional materials.

It’s not a continuation of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark story if there’s a girl ascian who comes out of nowhere, so unique and fresh! Never-before-seen!

I also predict the election will literally be a case of ‘very obvious villain’ vs ‘overtly telegraphed hero’ with no in-between, so it’s not even really an ‘election’ as much as it is a case of ‘good guy vs bad guy’.

Yes, I do in fact have a crystal ball that shows me the exact future and thus am fully confident this will really be real

I really hope they do something to develop her character more, because her introduction wasn't very impressive, imo. I'll agree to some new adventures, but I'm not sold on the politics or trying to directly help her yet.

The launch trailer didn't do anything except reinforce these feelings for me. The 3 times she is shown, her voicelines are all variations of the same "I'm Wuk Lamat and I will be Dawnservant" sentiment. We get it.

Maybe she'll be betrayed and die at level 91 or so in the story for an actual plot twist.

Given how they Mary-Sued her into being OP in EW, I doubt this will happen lol.
