    SAM casting

    dear battle/combat developer(s),

    please consider removing casting to Samurai, all other melee jobs including some tanks have zero casting to them an they operate just fine. i get that the initial idea was to add some mysticism to it and demonstrate its more than just mindlessly swinging a blade around but there are other more efficient ways to achieve the same effect without hindering players who really enjoy this job/discipline and not making them feel like they are being pushed into playing a certain playstyle.

    if this simply isn't feasible or possible then please at the very least reconsider their cast times an shorten them to half a second or to a very brief few miliseconds if need be it could be a trait thats unlocked that reduces all cast times etc.

    if they are going to insist we keep casting then i demand they add a counter/deflect/parry effect as compensation for us having to stand perfectly still in one spot because thats exactly what a SAMURAI would do if being charged at or being attacked is to deflect/parry then counter strike when an opening is visible.
    the other Melee have the unfair advantage of being able to move freely and unbinded by a cast bar when a large AoE is about to hit at close range and they loose nothing from dashing out of the way compared to the samurai which looses its cast and then has to reset.

    Slide cast it i guess. Sam is not some overly complicated job.
    If you don't like it, play another job. Removing any sort of gameplay friction just makes every job the same. *Points at tanks*

    Samurai isn't the only one. Reaper also has a cast time on it's heavy hitter, Communio. In my experience the cast time for 1 ability really isn't that big of a deal. You just need to have some situational awareness when you use it. Typically, it's fast enough that you just slide cast out of an attack anyway.

    Make every melee job the same please.

    I like the surgical/tactical vibe of iajutsu. It wouldn't feel like iajutsu without it. I even like it in pvp, where it's actually a point of contention between players. Gives the job a specific feel when playing around it.

    Honestly I think Machinist should have a sniper rifle attack with a cast time where they're lining up a headshot.

    call me a contrarian if you like, but i think the SAM cast are very reminiscent of anime and old spaghetti western style samurai movies, the old face off prior to the draw that ends the threat, its the ideal of taking the time to focus mind body and soul in to one honed swing.

    more than anything tho, the casts are the price you gotta pay if you want big numbers to go burrrrrrrrrr... if you want to play SAM without casts DRG/MNK is always an option, and honestly both are great jobs

    Well, that is to say that the occasional cast time representing a special move that requires aim, charge-up or channeling is cool, and I'd rather see more of them on non-caster classes than see existing ones like iajitsu removed. The cast time helps sell what a samurai is doing (and also justify some of its raw power).
