    I honestly want to see more "cast times" on melee classes. Needing to "charge" a move before unleashing it can make big attacks feel juicier while also adding an element of tactical timing to its use. It boggles my mind that WAR doesn't have even a single move like this to make their heavy axe feel that much heavier and impactful.

    I do think that the "charge up" for Iaijutsu feels extremely good. The anticipation of unsheathing that blade is so camp and really feels in-line with the vibe of Samurai.

    Please no, there's enough casts on melee between Samurai and Reaper and Ninja even has a skill that forces standing still.

    I personally absolutely hate cast times, that's part of why I liked the melee role in general.

    I understand why the cast is on Samurai and it's ok for it to be there(despite my not liking cast times I've still been playing Samurai since Stormblood) . But I would be extremely sad if they started adding casts to every melee. At least the casts on samurai and reaper make them somewhat unique, and I'm beyond happy that Viper has no cast times so I can finally move to that and have a fun sword DPS that doesn't cast.

    So in short, I prefer the status quo, let samurai keep its casts, let reaper keep its casts, keep that far away from the rest of the melee.

    If they want a casting tank, by all means they can come out with one like they did with samurai as a casting melee.

    Having weapon skills with cast times is mission critical to SAM's gameplay. I don't think they should get rid of them.

    but the Cast on Iaijutsu makes sense since it's a Sword Drawing Technique and Ogi is just a Single Button Iaijutsu.. now if Tsubame had Cast then you may have a point but now? I wonder how much Personality and Skill Expression will the Samurai lose? DT Samurai already looks more like a Dynasty Warrior..

    It completely defeats the point of Iaijutsu to have it be instantaneous. This sort of iconic Samurai cinematography is exactly what they're aiming for, down to the tension-filled metallic hum before you unsheathe the blade. It's a bit like the dramatic pause during a western 'quick draw'.

    Also worth noting that Iaijutsu has a massive 6 yalm range. This means that if you are actually forced out of hitbox by a PBAoE, it also doubles up as a pretty good uptime tool.

    Shadowbringers derailed FFXIV. Both the story and the job/combat design. It was not worth it.

    Oh yes, WAR would be the perfect "caster" tank. Just like how DRK is halfway to being the DoT tank it wants to be.
