Character Creation, Customization, and Gender

These options are something I would love for the game to have. I've played my character as a "tomboy" for all the years I've been playing. I've been very upset with the graphic update that seems to have gone out of its way to change my characters face to be much much more feminine. I'm not NB personally, but I would love the game to have NB language options, and more variety in bodies and features. It can be a goal for the game to aspire to. I have many friends who play this game that even just a pronoun selection would mean a lot to. And if it means a lot to them it means a lot to me too.

Honestly, why should I not believe that Americans only want to use it for a self-serving purpose? NA DC is filled with ego, greed, and chronic Main Character syndrome, and lack of respect for anyone and anything.

OK, serious question: what ulterior motive, what self-serving purpose? What exactly does looking more androgynous achieve besides...looking more androgynous?

I like it the way it is with proper English being used.

You're not playing yourself in this video game you're playing an adventurer entirely different from yourself.

What "proper English"? Singular they has been used for literal centuries. Shakespeare did it. The most common use is "I don't know this person's gender", applying it to people who don't want to be labeled as either man or woman really wouldn't be that much of a stretch.

That and language evolves. It always has. Words change or add meanings, new words are created to refer to new things, some expressions fall out of use and other ones become fashionable.

Not to mention, there is no definitive authority on what "proper English is" anyway. Some countries have an institution that decides grammatical rules and ortography, English, at the very least UK English, does not. All those fancy dictionaries are purely descriptive = they say how language is used, not how it SHOULD be used.

I don't know how much harder it could be to implement it going forward, though backwards compatibility could potentially be a nightmare depending on how exactly dialogue and cut-scenes 'decide' which pronouns to use.

Hypothetically, the easiest path for them would be getting rid of all gendered pronouns and making all future dialogue referring to the WoL into "they", plenty of games (singleplayer or online) already do this - I personally wouldn't be a fan of it, but it wouldn't ruin my experience either.

As for the extra customization options, I don't see why anyone would be against more options.

I'll lend my support, but realistically I wouldn't expect this feature to happen any time soon, if at all.

Would have been nice to have an option for running animation.

Tried midlander female and their animation ended up feeling a tad too feminine compared to miqo'te which seems more natural/neutral.

I hope that the dev team continues to ignore posts like these and keeps 14 in the neutral state it's in.

I may be unreasonable, but I think Square-Enix won't just cater to some people on a whim.

It doesn't work that easily.

Maybe another race that has no gender? When there the next MMO?

I'd be fine with those things if they were optional toggles,

i'm a straight black dude in real life but my character has been a very avg white highlander lady for years because(they have the best emote set for one &) its fun to play as my polar opposite, she isnt noticed in game since shes not a bunny or catgirl, unlike in rl where im spotted as soon as i walk in the door, forget that tho, i like how shes referred to its her world anyway, it would feel odd if they alluva sudden started they/themming her.

but if the devs were able to toggle-ize stuff, i say go for it,
