Thanks for all the discussion everyone! Yeah, I absolutely wouldn't want to get rid of all gendered pronouns, I have alts who fit the he/she just fine and I enjoy it a lot. It'd just be cool if we had a third option.

I'm a game dev myself (got laid off this year though lol) and so I'm pretty interested in how games get put together. FFXIV is pretty economical by necessity with how player character models are rigged and how armor morphs to them, so I wouldn't have asked over any of this if I felt like it was an unreasonable demand. Since most male characters shade the male midlander rig and most female characters share the female midlander rig, being able to at least swap your animations between the races that share the same armature would be really awesome. It'd leave you with more limited options for some (I think that F!Elezen and F!Hrothgar are on the same armature, apart from the other races?) but it'd be cool to have. Pound for pound for roleplaying options and customization, FFXIV is one of the best just because it lets you change how you wanna stand or sit and all that stuff.

I really wish that there were more diverse voice options for male hyur.
I use the young face and SE didn't include any voice options that are appropriate for it.
All the hyur voices sound like 30-60 year old men who are grunting and wheezing, but he looks like this:



There is only one voice that is somewhat high, but it sounds like a delinquent trope and so it doesn't match.
Being able to borrow from other races still would only help a little because they have the same issue, but not as extreme as male hyur so I'd be grateful for even that.

It would also be nice to be able to make my male hyur and miqote shorter.

I'd also make use of a feature that would let us choose pronouns independently of the character model (my male au ra uses the female model, and should also be at least 2' taller and an absolute 0 on the bust slider) and would love to have a "nickname" field that the Scions and NPCs could refer to us as.

The game could benefit from more customization.

God, sorry, this just reminded me of how much it drives me nuts whenever I'm on my Seeker guy and he's referred to as "Ser Tia," or "Lord Tia," or "Commander Tia," since it's a title rather than a surname.

I mean, I'm used to it! And honestly I think it's more funny than anything; it genuinely gives me a little chuckle every time it happens. Just, at the same time, I'm always thinking "damn...I wonder which guy he's referrin' to..." considering the vast majority of Seeker men out there adventuring should be a Tia.

Were you just hoping someone whos been playing a seeker miqo'te to not see this? I have been playing this game since the beginning and I can't recall a time anyone ingame has ever refered to my seeker male as "Tia" I do find it weird when they will say my last name, but thats not unique to seeker males. Is your characters last name Tia?

Wasn't even intending on doing any replying, but this is just a weird statement to make.

Sitting here for like 10 mins now making sure I'm not the crazy one and yeah I really don't recall a single time this happens.

Yes, many players with lore compliant names have the last name Tia and this happens very often.

I have been playing this game since the beginning and I can't recall a time anyone ingame has ever refered to my seeker male as "Tia" I do find it weird when they will say my last name, but thats not unique to seeker males. Is your characters last name Tia?

They were talking about their seeker who is using lore-appropriate naming conventions which is "Givenname Tia/Nuhn" Tia and Nuhn are titles and not surnames, but the game will treat it like a surname just because it's the second name.

And yeah it happens every time a character will refer to you by your last name alone/with an honorific.

I'm talking purely from a perspective on roleplay/lore-appropriate naming conventions here, since Roda was already on that topic with Hellsguard naming conventions. Had you not noticed that every named Seeker dude NPC in Eorzea was followed by "Tia," excluding the two "Nunh" NPCs we get to see in the U and M tribe...?
