I don't mind at all the occasional technology type robots and sci-fi elements in the story. But it seems to me that in FFXIV they should be rather more mysterious and served as something really very special, not counting the Garlean army.

They are aware it doesn't really fit in game. I mean they said they tried to make it blend in, but they knew it was a challenge, and IMO it just more or less feels out place despite their efforts. I time stamped it to where they admit it's a really difficult place to blend in to the world.

They could take inspiration from the Elder Scrolls online, for example. Where so far nothing much has been said about dwarf (dwemer) technology, yet the technology is there and few and far between use it even if by accident. It's a secret. A lot of the quests revolve around this and it feels mysterious. Although I don't like the ARR the most well done they had with the Alagans technology in the ARR
