Crafted Gear releasing on the same patch as the first Savage tier

    Hi everyone!

I would like to preface this by saying that I speak as a week 1 raider playing in an static, and while I'm undoubtedly in the minority, I'm sure many others will share the same sentiment as I do. I apologize in advance if I'm rambling a bit too much. I don't usually post on the official forums, but considering how strongly I feel about the topic after watching PLL82, I thought I'd drop my thoughts here - this will be quick.

I do not think releasing the crafted gear on the same patch as Savage is a good idea.

Especially considering how well-received the previous Savage tier release was with regards to preparation. We had 1 full week to prepare for Savage, which allowed everyone to do normal mode at their own pace (I realize this was always the main intent behind introducing the Savage release delay), then grab a full set of crafted gear, food and pots without having to rush. As a nice bonus, we even had the weekly capped tomestones available earlier to grab a piece of tome gear or two ahead of time.

This was a godsend as it meant I didn't have to worry about last minute preparation ahead of raid, or between 2 raid sessions, and could allocate all of my in-game time and brainpower for raiding.

Personally, I'm fine with not having the weekly capped tomestones right off the bat, although this kills the option of going for a tomestone weapon to help with clears during the first week (and indirectly lowers DNC's/buff jobs' value - probably for the best).

However, having the crafted gear releasing last minute means that I will have to once again rush to get proper raiding gear on patch release, which is frustrating to say the least as, for me, it detracts from actually playing the game and enjoying the highlight of the patch that are the Savage raids.

I understand there is a community of crafters that make bank by selling raid gear when Savage drops - and I'm sure they've suffered from the introduction of the Savage delay - but I personally also enjoy gathering and crafting my own gear without it being my main activity in-game. I can certainly gather some materials ahead of time, but even assuming I had everything ready to craft ahead of time (which is extremely unlikely + there will also be Master Recipes to purchase too), there is no way I'll be able to craft my raid gear/food/pots when the patch releases and it just feels bad as I find the process to normally be fairly enjoyable and relaxing.

And I'm just talking about me here, but in a static, this can easily cause a logistic nightmare - if it was just about me, I can (reluctantly) shell out the Gil needed to buy a full set of gear, but not everyone can afford it and having been the one with no Gil before, it just sucks having to ask and rely on others to gear you up considering how expensive it can get.

It's unlikely the release schedule will change for the first raid tier after announcing the launch roadmap, but I'm hoping to see these changes reverted for the second and third tiers.
Edit 2: Hopefully, it's just a misunderstanding and we will actually get the normal mode + crafted -> Savage delay, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
It's also entirely possible they just didn't think things through properly regarding the first tier, considering the QoL changes came in 6.2 and 6.4, months after Endwalker's first tier in 6.0, which 7.0 is looking to be a repeat of.

What are your thoughts about this?

Edit: the JP forums also have a thread on this topic. Consider upvoting it as well!

Agreed, it should be released one week prior as was the case for 6.2 and 6.4 to give players time to prepare.

I just feel like it was such a good change for everyone so i'm not sure why they are changing this again... It feels kind of out of touch.

It's my impression that the slide is simply misleading. Its goal is to show which content is coming out on each specific subpatch, and perhaps the savage tier is just getting delayed within that patch.

I only hold this impression because it is completely baffling to consider undoing such an amazing change that literally benefits everyone.

It's extremely disappointing to see the best quality of life update I've experienced in this game get reverted. I am not looking forward to having to scramble for crafted gear at 5 AM again just so I can actually do the content. Reverting this quality of life change severely hurts the enjoyment of anybody who plans on trying these fights on day 1.

I really hope this is the case, but that would still suck for different reasons such as people planning their vacation around that date.

granted I havent watched LL, but last I heard was that crafted gear is usually launched at release and I heard Savage was going to be released 7.05, a few weeks after launch. Is that not correct anymore?

By the way, the JP are also asking for this to be addressed in their forum (click here).

Feel free to like that post, as well.

Agreed. Not having to stress obtaining crafted gear as someone who raids Savage day one was awesome. Going back to running the gear rat race on day 1 after 2 tiers of not doing so feels like a huge regression in QoL to me.

I raid in multiple groups and I'm also the primary gear crafter for the majority of the players in said groups... This last tier I ended up making 250-300 gear pieces for people (including alt jobs a while in as well to be fair, was probably more like 10 almost-full-sets for the first week) and having an extra week to do so was a godsend, purely because of how many hours I have to spend waiting on nodes.

To go back to trying to shove as much gathering and crafting between raid sessions as I can to get everyone as geared up as I can get them before they need to go in would be... well, it'd be stressful to say the least. At least I don't (currently) have any groups intending to raid on reset day I suppose... The crafting part was the bit that I felt most rushed with, not the normal mode fights. I think going back to the harried crafter-raider-madwoman business will really hinder my ability to enjoy the fights when I finally do get in there.

I much prefer the system we had these past two tiers. I hope Mykaterasu is right and it's just a misunderstanding... but considering the slide lists 7.01 for the normal modes and 7.05 for savage and the crafted gear, I don't think there's a huge amount of room for error in there.
